    Default The Opportunist

I imagine every gym has shit heads like this, but boy do I HATE them, let me explain:

So I go to an MMA gym, there are some high level mma guys there, one of which is in the UFC. Anyway they are cool and spar just hands with me on fridays, so we all go a good 50-60% 7 or 8 rounds, 3 min rounds, 30 second rests. If I can I try not to sit out any rounds unless we have uneven people and I have to.

Well this fucker today sat out a good 3 rounds of the 7, knows I"m the boxer (been boxing for nearly 5 years), he sits out and waits, then when we spar he acts nice then starts measuring me constantly and soon as I jab him a good one he goes ape shit 100% balls to the wall trying to knock me out. Mind you he's fresh and I've already gone a couple rounds, one of which against a 250 lb southpaw which is a pain, so this fresh fucker tees off on me with about 10 or 12 oz gloves, for ONE ROUND. In the mean time I covered up and blocked most of the shots, got in some uppercuts and hooks when I could, but this opportunist was fresh and thus able to go 100% and get the better of me. So now he gets to go run his mouth that he got the better of the boxer for one round.

I've run into this situation before so next time I'll have on 12 oz gloves myself, and catch him when we are both fresh at the beginning. Or better yet after he's gone a couple rounds and I've sat out like he did

Any of you folks run into fellas like this ? No honor, cheap bastards.

Yep got I got knocked out cold from a straight front kick from some one alot higher up than me. Didnt tell me we were going to go full contact. I had no idea.

Life would of got him for sure I saw him cop one beating once from someone outside of our club.

Life got his brother first (he broke his leg in half on someone elses leg (exactly the same as that horror thing you see on utube and fails sometimes ). End of serious fight career right there).

These two brothers had the same devious mentalities, but one was hidden in different way. The balance catches people like that one way or another.

    I can explain it.
But I cant understand it for you.

Wow. What a cocksucker, I take you kickbox ? Real shitbag move to frontkick you in the face right off the bat in friendly sparring. I just box I won't let the fuckers kick me, I say "Just hands plz" haha

Interesting those two were brothers, as this opportunist in question is actually the older brother of TJ who is in the UFC right now. He's 30 something so I think he thinks he's got somethin to prove to catch up to his lil brother who is a star.

Anyway the past two times in the last 4 years or so that something like this has happened I've gotten revenge. The first guy like this I met used to say not to go too hard cus he had an injury then he would go 100% hard as he could on ya. Second time I sparred him I ripped his body to pieces til he was knocked down and quit. The other occasion was a couple of fuckers from Chile, got them good too.

I hate being taken advantage of. There is honor in boxing, in fighting. At least there should be at one's own gym.

Im 53 mate, I did it a long time ago, wasnt any mma around then, but people were at the stage of practicing a few arts at once so eventually MMA as born from those times.
I did Judo with a guy called Hamada. Kungfu with Cheung and a karate form Id rather not mention in disgrace. Back then you'd meet others guys who wanted to learn other things outside of their own schools (Was not allowed back then) so you'd meet other club members secretly after hours on neutral ground so that your elders wouldnt find out.

We meet in a large factory and the night security guards were in on it too, so it felt good driving through in the night past the gates, "oh your here for training, go through".

I thought, wtf I have got myself into here the first time I went there and drove through on my own, but they were all cool they were all members of rival clubs themselves and couldnt be found out either.

I went from physical and mental practice and realized I wasnt being fulfilled where I needed it most, in the core spirit, so I gave it up and went for the philosophy side behind it all which led me to think along the more balanced Taoist middle road of exploration, which in turn led me elsewhere.

These days I just like to spot rare moves that work well off peoples reactions that arent taught, sort of excites me still.

Intriguing story. I bet it felt good to go to those secret underground training sessions. lol

You and Miles/Gandalf seem to have a similar idealogy.

Politically maybe similar, but Miles having any belief in spiritual things I doubt it.

The thing to keep in mind with those fools is that they are the people in the gym that aren't really gonna get anywhere.

He doesn't gain anything from pulling that kind of crap. No useful experience.
