We're much better off with the monarchy than we would be as a republic. Plus they add a bit of class to the country. It's not like we're overflowing with class in Britain, is it? Much better off with them than without them.

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
The Royal family do not add class. They represent all that should have been washed away by now. Master is right, Britain lacks class because of what the ruling elites have been perpetuating for the better part of the last 40 years. Social mobility is at an all time low. We are gradually moving back to serfdom and still the monarchy lords it over all.
Time for the pitchforks and to put them on Bonfires. Out with class and in with revolution.
I agree social mobility is rubbish but that's not the royal family's fault. The only major country with worse social mobility than Britain is America where they don't have a monarch. Countries like Sweden and Norway are top of the social mobility table and have monarchies. The system in Britain and America isn't going to change because we don't invest enough in education like the high social mobility countries do.
The reason why do not invest in education like the high social mobility countries do is because Turkey do not vote for Christmas, it will stop their children from getting the jobs they have lined up for them.

If the Queen was a patriotic Brit she would be with the occupy London types, but she isn't. She represents the status quo and readily endorses it. She's probably a nice old lady, but I don't care about that. I'm sure some nice people worked for the SS too.
It's a little more complicated than that. The offspring of the people in charge aren't ever going to have a problem getting top jobs. You'll always be able to look after your kids if you have enough money and connections. The problem is the kind of funding necessary to provide quality tertiary education to intelligent members of the 99%, or should I say the 90%. If you're going to provide that level of funding then societal pressure to provide similar funding for healthcare, primary and secondary education, adult training etc. pushes you in the direction of a Scandanavian-style egalitarian society, with the wealthy paying a vastly increased share of the tax burden, etc. etc.
