It's funny because though DLH may have been at his prime physically, that fight was a lot closer than it should have.
De La Hoya was stubborn on using Mayweather Sr's guard and defense.
He used it wrong and was much too squared and left huge openings for Vargas.
Part of the reason Oscar was so marked up and bloody was just because he was trying new techniques.
He could have won that fight MUCH, easier IMO.

I watched that fight again last week, it's one of my favorites.
