Doctors even did a study on Roy, if I remember correctly, and they didn't come back too positive.
I remember hearing they paid him very good money for the Lebedev fight; Roy must be raking in cash overseas .

LOL, Kostecki supposedly was engaged in running a few brothels back in the day, and pimping is illegal in Poland (unlike the prostitution itself). It took a few years to convict him, in which time he moved up in rankings. He was sentenced well before the fight, but reasonably expected they wouldn't lock him up before the event.

The fishy thing is, Kostecki would probably beat RJJ very convincingly. Instead RJJ won a controversial decision against a guy who has no power and had no time to prepare. And his win will probably get him a fight against cruiser champ - Wlodarczyk - I think that was the ultimate goal of the promotors.
Hey I was just going by the report on boxingscene and that is the phrase they used to describe him.

Roy Jones has been and is shot. Now completely shot. Never heard of or seen Kostecki or Wlodarczyk but either would probably KO him.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Money and ego. I enjoy watching him get knocked out. Payback for when he was in his prime and overflowing with himself and giving corny rap concerts with his walkouts.

Got to admit I like him more now that's been humbled some. I'll be rooting for him this time.

The prime Roy Jones deserved to be overflowing with himself. At his peak he was one of the most amazing fighters who ever lived

from what I've read (reliable or not, I let you decide), he doesn,t have money problem and matter of fact, did manage his money very smartly over the years. It's all about a guy who was on the top of the top of the pyramid and who refuses to admit that he's not the one he once was. When it's linked to the only thing you've ever know how to do in life, it's very difficult to acceptfor some. Seems to be Roy's problem.

After reading all these comments i believe it really is ego that is driving all of this.
Roy really wants the cruiserweight title and then he will call it a day..could be too late by then.

For many fighters, it is tough to let go... it isn't necessarily "ego" or money... but the fact that many of them define themselves as fighters. Same sort of thing happens to parents when their kids take off to college... some of them get "empty nest" syndrome and even take in other kids to fill the void. Once you define yourself as something, it is hard to simply let go and move on into another life.

Some guys move on as boxing coaches - but a lot of fighters want nothing to do with coaching.

I'd say Roy's reason for fighting is 90% financial problems and 10% not wanting to let go of the spotlight.

It's definitely more financial than ego. He didn't make anything like the kind of money Mayweather did and he blew a lot of it with his attempt at a rap career and other nonsense. He can't be enjoying getting beaten by guys he would have marmalised ten years ago.

I believe it is money he is a crap actor and singer.

Either way it is sad seeing a great fighter we all loved with exceptional skill being knocked out by boxers who he would have battered in his prime.
