    Marquez Bros speak!

    Sunday, August 6 2006

"He was a very strong and difficult southpaw," said newly crowned WBO interim featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, whose right eye was badly swollen at the end of his fight with game Terdsak Jandaeng. "It was a hook (that caused the eye to swell). I didn't protect myself but I was more careful after that. I wasn't worried. I still had vision." Juan expressed interest in having a rematch with Manny Pacquiao, who he fought to a draw in May 2004, but it appears the troubled WBO champion Scott Harrison may be next.

"He's a great fighter," said IBF bantamweight champion Rafael Marquez. "He hit me with some effective punches but I turned it around when I got a second wind. I prepared very well. I wasn't going to do this fight (give Silence Mabuza the rematch). But I did it because he said it was a head butt (that did him in the first time) and I wanted to show I was a great fighter." Marquez said he will now move up to the 122lb division. There are a lot of great champions at 122 pounds. That's where I want to fight."

The exciting Marquez Bros. doubleheader will be replayed on SHO Extreme on Monday at 11PM ET/PT.

Marquez/ Harrison is one of the best match-ups that can be made at feather, would be a good fight but Juan Manuel would have to be the favourite.

I was just thinking how great a Rafael Marquez Vs Daniel Ponce DeLeon would be. Full of explosions!!!
