I do. Alvarez has had Floyd's name in his mouth for the last year and Floyd's camp seemed to be shopping around Canelo's name to guage reaction before they ended up going with Cotto. This would have played better if Canelo had fought one of the first three guys he was lined up to fight, rather than a a junior welterweight.
But I'll still hold out irrational hope for the possibility of a dream scenario where Martinez beats JCC Jr., calls out Floyd again, and the fight is big enough at that point for Floyd to take the challenge. 1% chance.
no point in a rematch really, Khan was sparked cleanly and it wasn't a one punch deal, even if Khan was to get a rematch and win it, it doesn't say much for him, 3 times he was supposed to win pretty much easily, 3 times he got his ass handed to him twice by brutal KO
I get the impression Khan is pretty well 'taken care of' in the upper office. All the alphabet boys will do is mandate a rematch and strip em if he doesn't. Has Khan said anything yet or demanded a rematch?
I don't think there should be one immediately. Khan has to earn back a bit and Garcia has more than earned the right to season himself with a defense, soak it in and to exercise his options. We get nice suprises off 'upsets' and I'm cool with not making him cannonfodder for another network star right away. See Ortiz Mayweather, Lopez Canelo etc.
Shit...give me Lopez vs Garcia on a Mayweather vs Canelo undercard![]()
garcia's team won't put him in with matthyse right now. I wouldn't count Garcia out by any means, but LM puts everyone he fights down. 30 wins, 28 KOs. And he put Alexander and Judah down in his 2 "losses" (he won both fights).
Garcia's team will want an easier fight.
How about matching him with Brandon Rios? A tough but winnable (although also lose-able and therefore exciting) fight for Garcia, I think.
