Default Wlad prime v Frank Bruno prime : who would win

following on from a bit of banter between myself and Lyle I said I would create a poll.

I honestly believe in their prime our very own crap Frank would have enough to get to Wlad in first five rounds - if he didn't he would be battered down the stretch I have no doubt.

    So vote please . Thanks

I believe the key here is 'Wlad' being in his "prime", which is probably now, and definitely not during the period when he was knocked out by Purity, Sanders and Brewster.
This current version of Wlad would KO Bruno even in his prime, but Bruno might give Wlad some scarey moments.

My prediction: Wlad by stoppage 7-12

My reasoning: Frank Bruno was just on the edge of World Class he had a total of 4 title fights his record a piss poor 1-3 in those bouts. Wladimir Klitschko has had 21 title fights and is 19 (16 KO's)-2 and is currently on a run of 12 straight title defenses with 10 wins coming by way of knockout. Was Bruno's era more difficult? Not really by the looks of it, sure he had Tyson and Lewis on his record but Bruno lost to James Smith & Tim Witherspoon too and those guys weren't all that great. Lennox Lewis fought lazy against Bruno and STILL ended up knocking him out in a fight where Lennox Lewis should have been dominated. The facts are although Frank Bruno might hit hard, he couldn't take a punch, he didn't know what to do when he was in trouble, and he fought in a dumb manner given his weaknesses. Wladimir has made his weaknesses damn near unnoticeable, he's rarely gotten hit clean since the Brewster fight, he uses height, reach, weight, anything to his advantage and will slowly methodically break down a fighter until they just want to quit. Frank Bruno might give it a good hard go for 3-4 rounds, but after that it's easy for Wladimir, he'd pick him apart and Bruno would end up being counted out.

I'm certain erics44 will vote for Bruno

It's just not a close fight IMO...Bruno vs Rahman or Ruddock or Morrison or Michael Moorer would be closer, Bruno vs Bowe. But Wladimir is just hands down better than him, look at the title fights for fucks sake that's all you need to know right there

Wish I could back you up Mark but I got Wlad by second half stoppage. Frank on his feet of course.

Poor Frank would have been stopped round 10 I reckon. Still, I think Frank would have given Wlad a very hard fight. Certainly land more leather than Haye did against Wlad with that fast short jab and clubbing right hand of his.

Solid post! No doubt that Fank would have given his all, he was a warrior. i just see Wlad as the better boxer, the more technically gifted, and Wlad learned from his mistakes where Frank did not.

This clinching and holding version of Wlad would survive the early rounds and then take over. Everyone know Bruno tires badly with all that muscle late on in fights.

I've gone for 'Prime Wlad' between 7 and 12.

'Purity, Sanders, Brewster' Wlad, hmmmmm. Bruno is 100% better than all of those guys, so he has a chance

A lot depends on Bruno. If he comes in intent on making the fight, just about anything can happen because power at heavyweight is the great equalizer. If he decides to wait for an opening and displays caution, it could be a long night, because I'm sure Wlad would be very respectful of Bruno's one-punch power.

Not knowing which Bruno to expect, I went with the latter scenario and voted Wlad by decision.

Don't see why Bruno couldn't land a brick but a 'now' version of Wlad keeps him on a pole and has the pop to short circuit Bruno in either hand. Wlad calm and collected and as we know not afraid to stink out the crowd while waiting while Brunos rigidness and nerves could get him in bad trouble. Hope for Frank, bet for Wlad.

Right, Bruno's best chance would have been against the old vulnerable version of Wlad, not the "prime", and or current version.
