Bantamweight match.....China vs Azerbijan REALLY?

I didn't see this match, but I have watched about 15 or 20 of the Olympic bouts.

Did you see the Chinese Heavy or Super Heavy TKO that Australian boxer ?

I believe thats only like the 2nd stoppage out of some 80 or more Olympic bouts.

Yeah I did actually, he caught him with a hook if I remember correctly but I was still suprised that they stopped it so quickly because of how one ref had let an earlier fight go on for so long after another guy was in similar trouble. It actually seems that the refs have too much discretionary power IMO because it differs so much from bout to bout about what is considered a KO and what warrants a standing 8 count. I gotta say that I am genuinely enjoying the fights though.

Yes the fights seem to be a good deal better than they were in 2008, despite the still nonsense scoring system.

Granted the system is nonsense and I only have been able to watch 2 days due to work but looked like the system gets the winner right most of the time which hell sad to say is as good as the system in the pro ranks gets it

I think you're referring to the Japanese fighter that was initially robbed.
Thankfully, the boxing authorities did the right thing and reversed the decision, while also expelling the ref and an Azerbijani boxing official.

This is great its how all boxing should be conducted.

I've been watching the equestrian events ( they make those horses literally skip on alternate legs

!)

Anyway they have a lot of judges and they omit the top scoring judge and the bottom scoring one after every event; so that there is zero chance of preferential voting for country of origin, or the rubbing out of another country who may be close to your own countries expertise.

I think its brilliant.

Yeah, this was it. Thanks for the correction I think I said he was Chinese and for that I apologize. I also saw the other fight referred to in your link and I'm glad they did something about both if these fights. I have Directv and have been recording alot of the boxing to watch later and it has been a treat.
