if he does fight paulie again, would he win ?? i was pretty impressed with paulie last time out, the lay off and drug/alcohol abuse might actually of effected his performance, this is my only concern with the comeback and the world level. i think he could easily handle domestic and European level contenders

I think pauli will be to fresh and active for Ricky now i dont see Ricky competing at world level and been able to win with time time off he has had.

Ricky was a good, good boxer whose achievements may have been restricted by his lifestyle.
Perhaps there are even grounds to say that his losses were attenuated by what has been revealed as a very unfortunate habit.
Perhaps this is why he is considering a comeback; he sees this as an opportunity to vindicate himself.

He has the right to come back. He has the right to put his body through whatever he wishes.

But, I'm at a loss as to why or rather how he sees it as feasible.
The combination of his fighting style, his age and lack of activity do not fuze well.
I don't believe that Ricky can return to the level from which he left. He has the right to return, but all I can see is further damage to a relatively good reputation.

If he comes back against serious fighters he'll get brutally KOd before long... If he doesn't then its just a carefully matched, money making scam

He is only 33 for fucks sake. Some of you are acting like he's 63.

If he believes he can comeback then good luck to him. He's being linked with powderpuff Paulie. I'm sure his opposition will be very carefully considered.

It's not his fault he's a massive boxing star. For sure he'll earn shitloads but he sells shitloads. He'll probably sell 20,000 tickets without even naming an opponent.

Because most 33 year old athletes haven't ruined their bodies with crash dieting, cocaine and drink binges, copious ammounts of saturated fat, herpes and of course years of using his face to block punches.

He'll never be back at an elite level. Expect a pre Kosta type career culminating on a stoppage to the likes of Khan at best.

What evidence is there that Hatton's "bad living" has harmed him? Until he comes back we will not know. Being out-of-shape during his career never effected him. In fact the penultimate fight of his career was one of his very best.

Just recently we've seen Eric Morales retire, spend three years as a big fat guy, return in a weight-class 20 pounds north of his best, yet hold his own in world-class.

33 seems pretty old when you're 23 but trust me it ain't.

I'd bet anything Hatton would take qutting on his school against Powderpuff Paulie, let alone Khan in a literally ginormous British fight, as his lasting ring memory rather than the current one - humiliated, lying flat on his back unconcious.

I'd rather see a guy come back after a couple years off of a brutal ko rather than to carry on like a walking corpes sponging punches having never stepped away in the first place. Style wise he's never been hard to solve but no doubt he'll draw and commit fully with what's left be it good or bad, and I think it'll be crystal clear what that is in first fight back. If that's what the announcment is and not that he's opening a fast food chain or something. Who knows.

The problem is Hatton's relentless pressure brawling style is a young man's fight. Little purpose in comparing Hatton to Morales, as Eric could box beautifully when he wanted to, and showed his skills against much bigger, stronger fighters like Maidana.

Hatton used to cut weight like hell to make 140lbs, often coming in a stone heavier than that on fight night. Fighters in their thirties rarely do this because the body just quits after years of doing this. H e could not do that now and have anything like the engine he had a decade ago.

The only option for Hatton would be to come in way North of 140lbs, which as we know is not where his strengths lie because his game is being bigger and stronger than his opponent.

33 isn't old for a hard living, pressure fighting boxer at an elite level? Fuck me...

I'll say it again, the only place Hatton would plan on taking a comeback is the bank.

warm up fight then take on Khan.

that would sell out a stadium for sure.

Actually fuck it, just take on Khan straight away

You'd fancy Khan but even rusty Hatton would have a great chance of stopping him.

I actually now want to see this !!

Im surprised by peoples reactions about his comeback theres noway pauily would win if he fights hatton and hatton would KO khan IMO, both lose khan maybe has the better chance but still i would put money on hatton stopping him. Apart from the pacman fight he didnt do to bad against floyd i know he got KO but i think floyd KO'S most people who really try and take the fight to him.

it could end up like Collins beating Benn
