Yes it is sad but cannot see why this should be an argument to arm police officers, it would just make it more dangerous for them.

Armed police a a definite no. Would simply mean more guns in the population which would mean more on the street.

Sad and terrible, but for me I cannot have much sympathy for the British police. They do their share of wrong with kettling, beatings, and the arrest of peaceful protesters. For me the police are a little bit like the military. Why do you do such a job? You want to help people and so why do you abuse your power and pick on the weak? For a regular paycheck and a long term job? Just look at Hillsborough for the corruption involved.

Death is awful, but I am not one for pitying the police or the military. There are other jobs one can do. Why not nursing? A job that really helps people and is seemingly no job for a respectable English person anymore. But no, jobs that involve bottling dissent and expanding force when dissent says no.

I know that is going to receive a torrent of abuse. Nobody should be getting killed and I want nothing but good things for all. However, in the great and relative scheme of things, I would rather freedom of protest curtail the deaths incurred by capitalism and war than get upset by the death of two police officers. A lot more have died though British police tactics than the losses of police forces. The police in their way have wreaked a massive havoc. On an individual level and for the families, yes it is bad, but in the greater perspective, I am lacking in any empathy for law enforcement agencies. Their motives are neither grand nor just. Some yes, many others no.
