Sorry Hulk I was trying to find your thread to post this on as I only watched it the weekend.

It is true Maidana did make a lot of adjustments which show he can learn and adapt. Soto may not be the quickest or slickest which may have made Marcus better than he really was, but his jab was fantastic and whilst he tired in one round, he came back and landed the KO.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

No problem. You know I can't stay mad at you

His jab was great and he did tire in the middle rounds as usual but as usual he fought through it and came back. He is just one tough, rugged SOB.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Guys like Maidana would fit in nicely in any era.

True, and I like watching him, but he would've been found out pretty quickly if he were around 6 or 7 years ago, imo. I would've loved to have see him in against say a Gatti or Corley though, and I think a fight with Zab Judah would still be a lot of fun. If he does plan on staying around 147, he and Malignaggi would be a really solid matchup.

In a best case scenario for Hatton, Maidana would be an ideal opponent a couple of fights down the line as well.

He's a brawler puncher with some skill when he chooses you use it just like Gatti. I agree with you and that kind of fight would have been a Foty contender. I always Corley was underrated for having grown up in extremely competitive times. Crazy perhaps but I actually think the Zab of today has a better shot to best him then the younger version who seemed to suffer the same affliction as today' s Dawson. Watching his own fight.

Be interesting to see how Ricky progresses. He looks to be in pretty good freakin shape in the pics I have seen albeit wearing his gym shit but then I'm a bit bias. He's my favourite jr welt of all time. I never wanted him to comeback to be honest but he's also a throw back and most certainly does not need the money like most comeback fighters do. I don't expect Ricky to make some huge announcement but rather that he is fighting a reasonable come back fight and not some schlep that is 2 and 20. He'd be a fool to jump in with a top 10 guy right out of the gates.

Told ya I was bias. I just turned this into a Hatton thread
