I find Constable very difficult in that while his influence and undoubted ability deserves its place in British Art history personally I find it a bit twee and it just reminds me of my Grandma's place mats. It has been so mass produced on tea towels etc that it has become a bit ubiquitous. He certainly knew a lot about light and how to render it.

Dali and Escher for me.

I cant draw a proper stickman. My Granddad was an incredible pencil artist especially nature. I remember watching him look at the picture of the grizzly on the front page of Canadian Magazine and sketching the subject while not looking at the drawing paper. I'm sure he was using the corner of his eyes but he never turned his head.
