A mate of mine is off there in a week or so. He finished in the army and been working civvy street 18months or so. obviously feels theres opportunities elsewhere.

I know he got his work visa sorted and I think one of the conditions is he has to have so much money in his bank account before they let him in. Good way to make sure people are serious about going and not planning on sponging off the government - Is that even possible in Australia or is it just England where you can get paid for sitting on your arse making explosives in your grotty flat? (here's one I made earlier)

My mate has his plant qualifications from the army plus he has got other licences and I think he plans to work at the quarries somewhere although he has said any work that allows him to earn enough to get by will do.

Moving to the other side of the world is not my cup of tea but I can see why it appeals to loads of people. I'm too soft the furthest I would go is Spain that way if a family member (God forbid) fell ill or something I can get back asap.

I think if you go and work hard you can make a good life.

    He who dares......

Darwin is stinking hot for the next few months. Its full of alcoholic people on the streets of an evening I hear and they arent parting .

Out of town is fine but not inner city from what I hear. Im in Melbourne we love it, we get all weather here,we live on the Peninsula out on the beaches.
Tasmania is a fine place too. South Aust is ok.

WA great place too, hotter though not humid like way up north and the far nth east, its a dryer more user friendly heat in southern WA. North WA is nasty though,40 deg days no wind, dust. Great wages on the mines up there though.

Hard to get onto the wharfs here and in Sydney as its a closed shop, have to be introduced or born in if you get my meaning.

It would be nice to get some time off because im not a big fan of snow! So it would be perfect to leave in about 1 month!

Best of luck to you whatever happens.

I spent a month in Sweden in 2006 skiing with the army, I agree too much snow haha. Had a couple of nights out but as we were there to compete most of the time was spent in accommodation watching tv.

We were warned about getting in to fights when going drinking, apparently punishments are harsh for people who hit others with a closed fist so if fights do break out people slap each other.... is that true? we never actually found out haha

I hoped you had a good time here though!

Cant say I end up in alot of fights but if I did i would use my fists, No question and i dont think the punishment would be that harsh, And it wouldnt even matter if it would be a slap or a sweet left hookie Just knock him out cold, make sure noone sees it, and just say he drank to much

If a fight even starts there's 1 hour of pure bullshiting before.

Aah people dont really know how to fight in sweden, honestly As i said i havnt really been into a fight myself but i've seen some and they're just swinning badly, It was like two womens fight over who was first in line at Chick-fil-a if you know what i mean.

    Regards, David

Looking back they were probably scarre tactics to make sure we behaved!

Had a great time Sweden, we drove over from France, had a night in Germany that was eventful to say the least and the 4 weeks in Sweden were excellent! Have fun wherever you land

20 an hour is really a cash in hand rate, (no tax) if you're not a youngster (under1 they get less.

You can pack supermarket shelves of the evenings and get more than 20 bucks an hour if its above board taxes paid.

See if you can get a working visa and life will be easier.

Bikes you just go for your learners permit over here and you can ride up to a 650cc, I think maybe only a 500 if its 2 stroke larger if a 4 stroke . Its just questions on a computer screen or paper after you study a book for a week or two, easy test on road rules. Then you can ride on L plates for as long as you wish too.

Yeah I'm planning on getting a workin visa! And I got this foreigner card that make things less pricy, no idea what is it but its included in the working visa! That card will give me discount on certain hotels, spa, resturants, fligts etc. Well of course I want to get out as much cash as I can, Do you know any job sites where is possible to apply for jobs? or phone numbers avalible?

That licens is almost the first thing i need to get when i come over though!
Well a 250 is enough power for sure, just need to get from A to B, Well I have no problem studying though! Just need a cheap bike, fresh, low miles. When I'm done with it you can have it mate!

Hope you guys have some boxing gyms aswell

    -Xweetie!
