Its more or less the same Glen as always, he just fades in fights now and his output drops. It'll be tough going for Groves in the first half of the fight.

This will be just like bellew vs Miranda
Never seen this Groves, but this really sucks to hear Glen went back on his retirement and is continuing on.
He's had a great career, a cinderella story and its over.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Agreed, but he isn't exactly getting destroyed and probably has more worthwhile endeavours to put his cash towards than the likes of a Holyfield. I haven't seen Groves either honestly, I just suspect that Johnson isn't the type to put himself in a bad situation, if he can still compete and provide for his family etc this isn't anything tragic. He certainly makes for a stern gatekeeper so this fight probably makes a lot of sense.
I disagree that this fight is worth it for Groves as far as testing himself goes.
We (supposed boxing fans) just saw Johnson lose to a terrible opponent in Fonfara on FNF's. Albeit Fonfara has stopped Phil Williams and Byron Mitchell recently.
George Groves' career has been so disappointing since the DeGale fight. He was supposed to be fighting for the world title before his injury, now he's fighting a 43 year old journeyman with wins 2 wins in his last 7, and lets face it, now, Glen is just a journeyman, used to be a W on young fighters records!

Not sure Glen Johnson will come here again, he was robbed twice here against Clinton Woods, then a fight was set up with calslappy who pulled out with 'a bad back' at the last minute. At the time I read that the cancellation cost him £100k in expenses as he and his entourage were all in the country. The subsequent rumour that there was nothing wrong with Calslappys back, it was that he had been carted off by the police a week before the fight after a row with his then wife (now replaced by a model).
So don't be surprised if Glen's enthusiasm for coming over here is not as high as our promoters think.
JC, classy as ever
Seriously though, this fight seems so surreal. Watching Johnson vs Hopkins on grainy VHS quality and now seeing him in 2012 in the ring vs George Groves who I've watched a few times as an amateur in York Hall. Very strange, the unlikeliest of meetings from different eras. In his prime, Johnson would be too gritty for Groves in my opinion but if he still has an ounce of that grit left, then he may at least provide a small test for George. At least I hope that's the logic in Groves camp otherwise what's the point?
