Romney didn't mention Benghazi because the damage had been done already. Candy Crawley attempted to help Obama but after bringing it up it's still the hot issue it makes Obama look very weak if not incompotent in handling these kinds of issues.
The American people were sold Barack Obama as a President who understands the Muslim culture, a President that will be respected and everything will be A-OK honky dorey, the seas wouldn't rise, the Earth would be healed, jobs would return, peace would be upon the world, dogs & cats, Christians, Jews, & Muslims living together singing Kumbaya by the campfire......and what did we get Kirkland? We got a guy who has no solutions and has no accountability....Barack Obama is no leader, Joe Biden is no leader.
"Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?” .....is that what a leader tells a grieving parent Kirkland? Because that's what Joe Biden said. Benghazi is a situation where help was DENIED to American citizens and whether its 4 or 400 it's a big deal because of how it went down and what happened afterwards. Is going on The Daily Show and laughing about how it's "not Optimal" what a leader would do? Is calling what happened a "Bump in the road" a show of leadership? There was significant enough strength in that region to help those citizens, there was significant enough warning to help those citizens....where was the leadership? Where was Obama? The proverbial 3:00 A.M. call happened and where was he
Asleep that's where he was and if you don't see that as "a big fucking deal" to borrow a phrase from the irreverent Vice President Joe Biden then you don't have a clue
Like I already said, the whole thing is just being stirred up by the Romney people just to get people like you excited enough to go out and vote. The vast majority of the population aren't interested at all because it's a tragic event that's being politicised to win votes.
Look, this is one small incident that's currently being politicised because it happened so close to an election. If having an embassy or a consulate attacked makes you weak on national security then how do you explain the huge spike in embassy/consulate attacks/US diplomatic fatalities during the Reagan/Bush the Lesser presidencies? I could post a graph here but I'm sure you'll look the facts up for yourself.
Also, too. Would there have been more protection at the Benghazi consulate if the GOP house committee hadn't slashed the funding they give the state department for diplomatic protection?
#1 The attack in Benghazi is the first time since 1979 where an Ambassador from the United States was assasinated.
#1 A) It could have been prevented
#1 B) It SHOULD have been prevented
#1 C) The Obama Administration lied about what they knew, when they knew, and what they could have done to help. They are accountable and the people that are trying to sweep this under the rug and say "Oh forget about it, it happens all the time, they're just trying to politicise this because the election is close" were the same people saying "Bush lied people died" about the WMDs in Iraq.
#2. Not all Embassies have to have top notch security personnel but I think we could have done better than unarmed Libyan "bodyguards". I don't expect a fucking SWAT team in our Embassy in England or in France or Japan or even China for that matter.....but a country that has JUST gotten rid of a leader and is still very much split in 2....yeah I think we could have some additional security there. Also if they came under attack and there are American military bases all over the world (which there are and some within very close distance to Benghazi) one would assume that we would have it in us to save our fellow countrymen. All that is being asked is "Who denied the help?" Barack Obama being Commander in Chief doesn't look too fucking great as a leader to allow that to happen now does he? Although to you that might be just fine, I'm certain you wouldn't change your view if you were one of the soldiers there waiting on help that's never coming.
Again, this is all just you parroting whatever the latest nonsense is on conservative blogs or wherever. There was an attack on a consulte. People died. There was a confused response by the government. The event is being politicised as it's so close to an election. Will this ever get mentioned again the day after the election? If Romney wins I don't think we'll hear about it again. If Obama wins it's 50/50, but the GOP will only contimue pushing it out of bloody mindedness. It's basically an irrelevance.
