This is now a beating a dead horse issue. The statistical facts of the calendar and time line sustains what I have said and explained in the previous essay I posted. Now somebody can claim gravity does not exist either. Makes little difference to reality. So you continue down the road that Jones ducked Calzaghe if you like. No offense but it’s sincerely delusion. The facts are in and speak for themselves. The fight was not possible or even considered at the time and it’s as simple as that. Its not a knock against Joe but the notion that Jones ducked him for lack of a better term is ridiculous.

Jones didn't duck Calzaghe. He was signing the highest paying contract in hbos history coming off of beating Toney. He did what he wanted, when he wanted and with who he wanted. Hbo was approving guys who were known fighters and had shared the airwaves. Some were near terrible at 168 but he was well payed and fawned over. At the time a simple reply of "who the fuck is this guy" concerning Calzaghe would have been heard. Benn had a better case frankly. I won't say he ducked him, but Roy did make a habit of maximizing his earnings with minimal risk.

That doesn't fly Spicoli, we must concede that Calzaghe could have beaten Thor, Ironman, and The Hulk in some kind of handicap match to the death while Calzaghe had a blindfold on, was smoking a cigarette, and juggling chainsaws.....it's only logical

I toyed with the idea of Patterson vs Jones. Floyd, I believe would harder but Jones would have been faster but would he be faster for 15 rounds straight?

That doesn't fly Spicoli, we must concede that Jones could have beaten Thor, Ironman, and The Hulk in some kind of handicap match to the death while Jons had a blindfold on, was smoking a cigarette, and juggling chainsaws.....it's only logical
Edited. That's more befitting of your thought processes...Not mine.

Calzaghe got floored by an ancient shot dried out old husk of what RJJ used to be and you're going to tell me "Well Calzaghe would have beaten him" no, no he wouldn't have. They could have fought in Vegas, NYC, London, Wales, Germany, Antartica, the Moon, or underwater and the simple fact is Roy Jones Jr in his prime would beat Joe Calzaghe...too quick, too strong, too powerful.

Was Calzaghe a great fighter? Yes, sure of course he was......but he was never as good as Roy Jones Jr.

You say he got knocked down like it's a big deal? He got back up straight away and wasn't at all hurt. Roy caught him with his forearm.

The bottom line is Roy never fought anyone like Calzaghe. No one with the work ethic, hand speed and boxing brains that Joe had. So you can hardly shoot down Joe's chances because Roy beat a bunch of fighters who weren't Joe Calzaghe.

    No fact just speculation.

Yes it was a "big deal" because RJJ was so far gone nobody expected that to happen.

I shoot down Joe's chances because RJJ was one of the greatest fighters I've ever seen in my life. It's not that Calzaghe sucks or whatever, he was a great fighter, but this is like saying Ali vs Tyson and it's just as simple to predict it's RJJ all day everyday over Calzaghe just like Ali never loses to Tyson.

U have no real basis to suggest this...Let's put it this way: The time frame for Jones to have beaten JC would have been shorter than the time frame Calzaghe had to beat Jones IMO! Would roy have beaten JC post ruiz or any time in the 00's in fact? I doubt it.. He struggled with Southpaw Tarver X3!

And Calzaghe was not a Gonzalez or Woods either!! Would he have beaten JC after calzaghe had outboxed the iron willed, teaque tough eubank? Interesting fight!

When JC was becoming dis-illussioned with boxing and putting in lack lustre showings vs i.e David Starie then i can easily see a jones win...But 100% Calzaghe gives jones fits! RJ himself admits it! Why don't u?

Was Calzaghe a great fighter? Yes, sure of course he was......but he was never as good as Roy Jones Jr.
I disagree. What we do know is that a 37 yr old JC tooled a 39 yr old RJ.
