The sad fact about pro boxers, they never admit when they are past there sell by date, boxing in general
is a young man's game. Ricky style was take some to give some, this style is not one for a long carer,
as he had taken a lot of punishment in most of his fights.
Yes it was very sad end to his carer, he all way's showed his grit but that's all he had left and it was no
were near enough.!

Ricky should not have been in the ring.Hope he can look forward to the rest of his life,

Hatton has now retired, well I hope he exorcized them demons and can now get on with his life, if
he had won last night I hope he would have done the same thing.!
Now Ricky make Quigg, a World Champion he's a great body puncher just like yourself.

Ricky left a big hole in boxing and it seems boxing has left a big hole in him. Being retired by a body shot is some higher powers sending him a message. Heartbreaking. Good effort though...now listen to the message.

I wish him peace of mind and a happy next chapter...Awesome fighter back in the day! Priviledge to follow his career. True lionheart!

I got the fight on,but found myself being unable to watch at times.
I can understand why Ricky wanted this fight,but it was so sad to see a man who was a shadow of he's former self.Obviously i am not happy he lost,but i think it was a blessing in disguise to be honest.I wouldn't want to watch any more of that thank you.

Somebody once questioned my view that Ricky wasn't all that great at 147....well there ya go. Also a southpaw took it to him, again. I hate it for Ricky, I do but sometimes you have to know your limits. He could have had a huge payday vs Witter or worked his way up to fight Khan which would have been easier than Malinaggi at this point in his career.

All that said, Ricky was a pressure fighter and he's lucky his career lasted so long, those guys usually burn out quick. I still wish we could have seen Hatton in his pomp vs Gatti, Corales, Morales, Cotto, and JMM...those would have been great fights win or lose granted there were several reasons we didn't see those, but they're fun to think about.

I think Khan would have tortured him to be honest. As shakey as Khan is I dont think Ricky had the kind of one punch hitting power to send him spaghetti legged.

I think hatton was on a slow and steady decline from tszyu onwards...Respect for takin 6 straight fights in the US though.

His style of fighting, balloning up in weight and general lifestyle all contributed to his decline. You can't treat your body like that and fight like that and expect to go on and on...Watch the Urango fight, although he won it convincingly and outboxed him you could see the fire and ferocity had gone! He was a schoolin waiting to happen by the time of the mayweather fight...Lazcano fight he looked dodgy too!

He looks haggard nowadays his skin around his neck his loose, its quite tragic. I thought with the desire and determination he had that we may get some of the old hitman back. I had a feeling deep down it was a long shot though but i probably did'nt want to admit it such is my admiration for him. At least he's got his health & wealth and it's not a sustained 5 yrs or so of fighting non entities and looking bad in doing so! All the best hitman.
