Donaire did what was expected. Arce doesn't have it anymore. Nishioka retired straight after and he only just won an SD. LSC has had a fantastic year, but who has he beaten? Beating Manny by KO was just stunning. He was only behind by 1 point on most people's scorecards. Say Manny had gotten up, he wouldn't have been behind anymore.
I'm going to throw some of that bullshit back at you.
Pacquiao is a used up fighter who had too much on his mind. How about this one? Pacquiao's wife and mother have been ragging on him to stop fighting so his heart wasn't into the fight. Here's some more bs that could have come out of your mouth. Marquez threw a lucky punch and probably couldn't do that again in another fight.
The way you sling bs around this one is up to your level. I don't care what the tests say, Marquez had to be on something to get a body like that. How do you like it?
That's the argument for it. Marquez fought twice and only one opponent was ranked. He had fought Pacquiao three other times so this was his fourth shot at Pacquiao. Donaire fought four times this year, against new opponents. Donaire unified titles. Donaire was moving up in weight. Donaire had a stunning stoppage too, also in December, and beat the lineal champion of his new weight class by knockout as well. It's a close race, in which I vote Donaire.
Let me pose a question. If Marquez had only won on the cards, would you still feel this way? Or was it the stunning knockout that did it?
Here is from Bad Left Hook:
I know, I know: He was expected to win and he did, big whoop. Arce was tailor-made for him, big whoop. Here's the big whoop: When's the last time you saw anyone considered by everyone who keeps or doesn't keep or doesn't admit to keeping a P4P list (even just a mental one, only in the air and their brains, tucked away from the world's prying eyes and criticism) to be a top P4P fighter fight not just four times in one year, but against four fighters all ranked in the top ten, in a division that said fighter was not even a part of coming into the year? There is no argument about this, in my view. Nonito Donaire (31-1, 20 KO) is the 2012 Fighter of the Year.

Give me a break : Here is the Great Nonito / Arum farce in detail:
Vazquez: 2 wins and 2 losses in last four fights (including a KO to Arce) Promoted by Top Rank
Mathebula: Promoted by Arum , only 21 years old and 4 wins and 3 losses in last seven fights.
Nishioka: Befuddled by record . He looked like a tentative amateur. He is promoted by Top Rank in association with Teiken Promotions and Tecete
Arce : Was way too small in move up to fight Nonito . Promoted by Top Rank. I have seen this rerun already it's called Manny Pacquiao .....
No Rigo no Mares .. no award or BS P4P mention !!! He only deserves the "Top Rank fighter of the year" website award.
JMM, Santa Cruz, Guerrero or Broner in order. Pac would win this award if it was him that KTFO out of JMM, why the reversal ?

I don't know how you can suggest JMM was fighter of the year. He landed a lucky punch and had one other fight against a bum. Also pacman clearly been on the decline for the last year.
For me it should be Martinez he had 2 fights against tough opposition. He looked better then ever against Chavez.
I don't give it to Donaire because he's clearly been ducking Rigondeaux and I'd wouldn't give it to Broner because hell probably get it next year when he beats Burns. Ward probably is the fighter of the year but with only 1 fight I'd doubt he gets it. If Froch gets it it would be a joke.
Martinez was 10 seconds away from being Manny Pacquiao yet your argument was he should be fighter of the year? Not sure why every one here that claims to know boxing keeps referring to the JMM KO as a lucky punch. He has hit PAC repeatedly with this same punch in all their fights. Only difference is JMM was resigned this time to take a
punch (beating) to land his as he knew he would have his opportunity
as in the past. Combine Pacs amateurish defensive skills and the
punch looks like the troll was assassinated. Poor fight plan terrible
defense. How has PAC declined? He really beat Bradley and apparent (lol) did enough to beat JMM. The minute Money started PEDgate the KO's ceased. Ironic if you ask me and poetic justice not a lucky punch. Look at my previous threads and I predicted a KO. I just did not expect it to be so lethal ......... So F-king comical. Sunday funnies are indeed printed Saturday night. Records do not come with footnotes.

How has PAC been on the decline? Because he hasn't the heart for it anymore. Preoccupied with things outside the ring. Regardless of whether he won or lost his fights he clearly hasn't been performing as well as he has in the past.
And when I say lucky punch I mean he could have thrown that same punch 20 other times and not landed so flush.
JMM for sure. That ONE win outweights anything any other fighter has done this year IMO. That win has more significance not only in this year, but in boxing history.
Huge KO win over an ATG legend.
