Fast forward a few years and in the eyes of his fans Joe overcame the very gods of Olympus.
I guess it was seen differently across the pond in the UK. I remember the majority sentiment being that Lacy was an absolute killer in his prime, and Calzaghe was an overhyped, protected UK slapper with brittle hands who was finally going to be exposed.

In fact I even remember a couple of big British boxing fans I chatted with on another forum who didn't have much hope for Calzaghe.
