Do you think Big George could pull it together and win a rematch? I do. Remeber Ali had already lost to Frazier and Norton by that time and took a severe beating (contrary to popular belief) in Zaire--I mean severe--he was really hurt inside, heart was swollen, kidneys were contused, blood in the urine and bladder I think was also bruised from George's bladder shots. as Ali laid on the ropes roping the dope. No way does Ali's body go through another 8 rounds of pounding like that.
I'm not going to call this a stupid question but I will call it a ridiculous question. OF COURSE, Foreman would have fought a different fight in a rematch!
Foreman may have bought into the fantasy promoted by everyone around him that he could not lose but George is not stupid.
I'm not saying he would have changed the way he fought or that he would have won but a rematch would not have seen Foreman punching himself out.
What makes you think Ali would have fought the same fight? After seeing Foreman up close, Ali--who had a boxing IQ of about a 1000--might have put pressure on Foreman.
A ridiculous but, just maybe, an interesting question. It would be interesting if George or Ali would answer that question.
