I think on rereading that @Rantcatrat was referring to Sergio always fighting Brits. It's because Barker, and Macklin were good opposition. Beatable but quality guys who would give him a fight. No doubting Martinez cajones. Murray will be just as tough but is not as good a boxer as Barker or Macklin so Sergio may stop him early. GG reminds me of an old school guy, like Armstrong or SRR he has tremendous KO power and a great boxing brain.

Golovkin is an excellent fighter but is overrated (imo). He is very heavy handed but not Julian Jackson.

I reckon he'd look bamboozled by Martinez style, and his static head is ripe to be blasted from all angles. I even think a Macklin level guy putting constant pressure on him would give him problems. I see a Kostya Tszyu-Vince Phillips moment for him.

I can only see Martinez on a heap on the floor, Sergio has been on the canvas a good few time's, if he face's
Golovkin will KO him with in 6 rounds , and I feel make it look easy forget the Brit pack he will eat them alive sorry to say it.! Seen many Middle- weight Champions over the years, and I feel Golovkin a bit
    special .

Pavlik was a relentless, heavy handed stalker, and he didn't fare too well against Martinez.

To be honest Golovkin would have cleaned Pavlik's clock remember he was a outstanding amateur,
way more talent than Pavlik, just look at him ko Bute etc.
Golovkin is a fearsome fighter, old school if JCC,jr had Martinez badly hurt imagine what Golovkin will
do to Sergio,! the answer ko him simple.

You sure are confident about a fighter that took 5 rounds to stop Proksa, 7 rounds to force a corner stoppage against Rosado and went 10 rounds with Ouma.

Surely you accept Martinez is in a different league to those guys? Martinez has the ability to crack shots into his big static head, that's when we'll see how good Golovkin really is.

I too have seen many middleweight champions over the years. He doesn't look anything super special.

    We'll see though

Martinez is no Hagler there again nether is Golovkin, but of the middle weights about now Golovkin is
the best of the bunch, Proska is a very good contender, and no push over, Rosado took a beating to
tough for his own good.Martinez is a good light-middle he is no great middle-weight in my eyes, it's
what you like, he's not to my taste. Golovkin is a better boxer, look at his foot work , the way he cut's off the ring, his punch power that one thing about boxing we can agree to disagree Bud.

I agree Martinez is not a natural middleweight but he's already beat middleweights that rank in a different stratosphere to anyone Golovkin has faced.

Proksa's form doesn't look very good now that Barker destroyed Kerry Hope so easily. Rosado was a light-middleweight that has been ironed out before. For such a "super fighter" he doesn't have the form to back it up, or, to my eye, the super talent many of you think.

The more I think about him the more I see him as overrated. I could be wrong though

Last night was very telling. Here you have a fringe contender who cant crack an egg moving up a division and he actually showed kinks in GGG's armour. He connected lots and actually buzzed him a couple of times. If Rosado had a little pop he may have been able to save his legs and stop the corralling. GGG has major issues with lateral movement and movement generally. Excuse me gentleman but the suggestion that he wipes the floor with Martinez is hilarious.

Martinez is a far superior boxer, but I'm not certain his chin would hold up to Golovkin's power.

He needs some work. Way too much is being made too early and while talent-power is obvious he hasn't faced anything remotely close to the neighborhood of a Martinez. I see him a bit one deminsional thus far and the movement he faced in a punch prone Rosado (one out of panic and preservation mostly)...and the movement a Martinez brings (shifting you into your own momentum and countering) is nothing similiar. Rosado showed mass balls but he was also badly hurt in more than a few of his recent fights. Golovkin might...may...coulda...woulda all he wants but you have to deal with what is actually happening. Golovkins defense is apparently his offence largely, that head is prone to left hooks among other things. HBO is determined to put a cape and theme music to him this early but he is no Chavez sr or Tyson, he's a guy who is 30 yrs old and has yet to complete 10 rounds with a strong fan friendly attack and solid potential, but let him walk before he runs.

And if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his arse when he hopped We'll see. Hey, I hope it does happen. Golovkin has the marketing going but he needs to make a definitive statement with Martinez seeing the Jr rematch on the horizon. Personally I hope that one falls through.

    Exactly my position.

HBO selling him as the second coming, even though he wasn't doing anything special, definitely influences people.

Golovkin is talented. He hits like a mule. However, let's see him beat a Darren Barker or Matthew Macklin to gauge where he is at the moment. A fight with Junior would be good too.

Do we still favor him over Kid Chocolate?
