I was shocked to read this but it is the right thing. Kelly seems to have lost something mentally, and I didn't see him achieving much at 168. Fighting Ward was obviously just a retirement plan.

If you read the artical posted hes invested his money wisely in property, comercial property at that, so he will now always have an income.
Too many boxers seem to think the big money fights will always come in and the money wont run out the way they spend it. Alot of managers must be real cunts. They can see that the lad aint all there and has nothing going for him other than boxing but dont advise them to talk to someone about putting money away or investing it.
Blah blah blah. Most fighters have no effing clue what retirement means. When the money runs out The Ghost will return.

I'm not impressed by that really. Pavlik has seen two big fights slip by and he isn't willing to work to keep a winning streak going with his new trainer? I don't get it, why would you do that? There has to be something going on with Pavlik.
I heard him in an interview a few months ago sounding drunk and bitter about things and this sounds random too and so I wouldn't be surprised if he is just drunk and bitter again.
There is no need to retire. He is still a very good boxer and there are fights to be won. He seems to be of the idea that it is a big pay day or nothing. You have to work towards that when you have fallen. He isn't Ricky Hatton with a mammoth fanbase. He has to work at things, it seems he just doesn't want to do that.
