Huh? What the hell did the ref have to do with that. Ruddock caught him with a monster shot, Dokes went limp against the ropes, then a quick follow up put him down. There was literally one second between Dokes being Ko'ed on his feet then hitting the canvas, the ref wouldn't have been able to prevent the last punch even if he'd tried.

I think the ref was in the wrong place when the combination first started at 13:21 he was off for stroll away from the action then arrived within reach and didnt know he was out on his feet already. If he was on the ropes already bending down to see into the action he could have stopped it, but in those days they let things go a lot further than they do these days anyway, so if he had stopped it he would probably have to answer for that too.

I agree with Brock that the ref was way slow stopping that. Missing the initial KO blows was excusable but for the final punch he was in position and just stood staring at a lifeless Dokes with his hands dangling at his sides. Then to add insult to injury gave him a ten count ()

I don't think he should have lost his license though. Split decisions/mistakes

I agree, if the referee hovers then the fans bitch.
Big guys, big ring, and plenty of room to be out of position, momentarily.

I'll cut the ref a break on that one. He was kinda out of position to see the first blow land, and after that Dokes was still standing up. Very dangerous situation though.

That was fine, nice clean KO, no doubt who won and no moaning about a quick stoppage. Should do it more.

haha nice clean KO like nice clean frontal lobotomy haha yeah its shocking as shit to see guesss Im gettin older mates, that was an upsetting final punch there and when I get in my real upsetting moods I like to watch the Cooney-Norton fiasco and when I see the final 4 full force Cooney punches landing right on the button of an unconscious Norton I come close to vomiting each time.

23 years ago in 1990 the rules were not as strict as they are now. 23 years before that in 1967 they were even less strict.

And 23 years from now in 2036 they will be even stricter.

In UK the refs stop fights way too early.

If my son (24 in 23 years) has a son and lets him wear a bra, there will be boxing.

Has a father ever beat his own sons ass?

True I am ashamed to say. At least we are not bad as the germains.
