I think even JJ Watt's finger injury was taken on an offensive play as he was trying to be a wide receiver. It's a bit of fun, but I can understand the commissioner considering ditching it as it is a bit of a lark.

You know, it's almost as if the NFL feels obligated to have an "All-Star" game, since the other major sports do. But it's a lot easier from a logistical standpoint to have a baseball or a basketball all-star game, than it is to gather the football all-stars, especially when some of them aren't even available because they're playing in the Super Bowl. That, plus the other dozen or so that are recovering from injuries and can't afford to reinjure themselves.
