about 2 mos ago, kids finished with their homework, we watched Meals on Wheels and they cracked up like crazy. Then watched Drunken Master aka Drunken Fist... young Jackie Chan is a hit with my kids. Then watched Supercop and they are now confirmed JC fans lol and understand why dear old dad is a JC fan

Watched Ashes of Time and it is rubbish.

Sticking with Jackie Chan I used to love Rumble in the Bronx! That was a classic.

Jackie almost died while filming Armor of God. He was jumping off a mountain onto a tree, the cameraman somehow dropped the camera, and cameras were expensive, so Jackie jumped to try to catch the camera and fell I don't recall how many feet and cracked his head. Rushed to hospital. To this day, he has a little hole in his head. Recall when he was making the rounds on american tv talkshows promo'ing Rumble in the Bronx - he was on David Letterman and he let Letterman feel the hole and he did and he had a 'wow, there's a hole in your head!' reaction.
Other than that story, I've not kept up with his behind-the-scenes stories. Guessing there were other movies that almost killed him.

I liked Hero too. Different directors. Both good directors
Not martial arts movie, but did you watch Wong Kar-wai's CHUNGKING EXPRESS or FALLEN ANGEL or HAPPY TOGETHER?
If you did then Ashes if Time us not a stretch. Based on classic Louis Cha wuxia novels

i'm getting older and losing memory sadly - raised 3 kids and midnight feedings and losing sleep added up lol
thanks for compliment, but nah, love Hong Kong movies, watched boatload since 1980's and some of the oldschool from 1970's. past, i don't know, 5 yrs i've not kept up with the HK movies unless it was Donnie Yen's lol
just be aware WKW is arthouse-style director, CHUNGKING EXPRESS landed him on the 'map' of critics... critics love his movies - lets them be hoity-toity and wax poetic making themselves sound good lol
the regular joes generally don't like WKW movies (although this new pic on Ip Man, The Grandmasters, may change the Asian people's minds on him from what i heard)
Just want you to know with Chungking Express, its 'sequel' Fallen Angel and Happy Together - they are not martial arts movies, they are dramas.
Hope you liked

Rumble In The Bronx, Fist Of Legend, The Corruptor, and a bunch I can't remember at the moment. My brother is a HUGE fan of the martial arts movies and I think it was a movie called the Tai Chi Master that he loved.
Did you ever watch Monkey which was a series about a Buddha that had to travel to India accompanied by the monkey king, a pig and fish man?
