Jerry Buss Dies

I just read that the former owner of the LA Lakers and the Inglewood Forum died. For many years Dr Buss put on boxing shows at the Forum, often losing money because he paid good fighters and put on competitive bouts because he liked boxing. And the Miss Ringsider competitions weren't bad, either.

I always associated the Buss name with the Lakers. Did not know he was such a boxing fan, thanks for that bit of info. Very sad to hear of his passing. Seems there's been a rash of old sporting greats that have died recently.

You can't say Jerry Buss didn't have a great life, how old was he when he passed? I'm thinking he was in his 80's?

What they didn't show on television...Every week, before the tv part started, they'd have a bikini contest, a qualifier for future Miss Ringsider contestants. For about a year I sat in the same place every week; right next to the section roped off for the ring card girls.
