Please before I say anything further about Mayweather/Pryor I just have to say that this old wives tale now urban legend that Ray ducked Pryor is just that. A crock of shit. Leonard routinely beat the piss out of him in sparring and Aaron was way to small to compete with any elite at 147 let alone Leonard.
Pryor never faced anyone of any note until Arguello who had fought at 130/135 his entire career and who had one fight at 140 before Pryor and Pryor needed his special black bottle to do it.
He had never seen even a reflection of a fighter similar to Floyd his entire career. His claim to fame prior to Arguello was beating up a 36 year old shot Cervantes and a one foot in the grave Gaetan Hart who had already lost about 20 times and was ko'd in about 10 of them. There is zero evidence in style or substance that he bothers Floyd at all. He'd be a freakin human dart board.

*Did u just make that up and hoefully, no one in here knows what they;re talking about? Pryor was kicking Howard Davis butt after they olympics as a sparring partner and got fired. Pryor challenged Davis is his first pro fight.
U have it right, legend says both Pryor and Leonard sparred... BUT Leonard was getting his ass handed to him. There's even film where someone says Leonard was knocked down in his prime. Pryor even goes up to Leonard and challenges him...
it's not folklore... maybe Leonard wasn't affraid, but he wasn't fighting Pryor if the money wasn't right..and the money was NEVER right. why not fight Pryor? Pryor was in alot of fighters heads..he didn't give a shit... he'd fight u for nothing..and that scarred fighters.

Yeah I made it up. It is a crock that he ducked Pryor and Leonard played with him in sparring and would have knocked him out. He was a shrimp. Maybe he got some licks in with Davis but so what. The rumour that has been permeating boxing forums for years that Leonard ducked Pryor is ridiculous and again Leonard did what he did in sparring. Pryor can say whatever he wants. And big deal that Pryor did some publicity stunt to Leonard. Ray was busy fighting the likes of Hearns, Duran and Benitez in order to duck him lol. That is the thing about sincere delusion, you have to tell the same untruth over and over and over again in order to believe it. Its a myth I'm sorry to say that Ray ducked Pryor and he did beat Pryor up in sparring. Exaggeration turns into a wives tale and then to urban legend as is the case here. Pryor couldn't carry Leonard's jock strap.
And dont bother producing some of the press releases of the day that suggest otherwise cause I can produce just as many to rebut it. I've seen countless interviews at that very time with Leonard and Pryor was not even on the radar and for good reason none of which include being scared.
