I do. Hes earned his spot and has a spoiling shifty style that I don't mind. His win over Lopez was respectable and he grabbed an oppurtunity and stepped up his game over Cotto who was off giving Mayweather a solid fight and would undoubtedly be seen worthy enough for a title shot if a judge or two had been on the bong during he and Trout. For a minute there was mention and concern that he would still get the fight regardless of the loss

Trout is the perfect style and an off brand and solid preview to what he can expect from a Mayweather, should he not lose. Hes certainly no Floyd, but hes much more of a complete package hitting his stride than anything Canelo has faced in a very long time. I think its a coin flip right this very moment.

Just as Floyd did against Mosley, he fought Cotto's fight and still kicked ass!! That's what's so great about floyd.. He fought out of his comfort zone and he still toyed with cotto..

The only fighter who took Floyd to the edge was none other than Castillo..

What Cotto did was nowhere near what Castillo did and that was against a young Floyd..

I have Puerto Rican buddies who always claim that nonsense and i always laugh hard..

Floyd was never in any type of danger when he fought Cotto..In fact he was so comfortable, dude didnt view Cotto as any kind of threat that he decided to sit in the pockets which was so unlike him...

Cotto didn't do nothing... OScar Delahoya was more effective against Floyd than Cotto ever was..
My unbiased view is that Mayweather beat Cotto with ease. Cotto took a few rounds, possibly 4, but Mayweather still won comfortably. On the other hand, over the last couple of years, I thought Cotto gave Mayweather his most difficult fight.

From a different angle, in my opinion, Margarito, with possible cement in his gloves the first time, and without the possible cement the second time, roughed Cotto up more than Mayweather.

Back to Trout though, he started off as a -300 to Canelo. This is a more even fight in my opinion that those odds suggest.

The guy has amazing ability and his punch variety will put canelos to shame.
Both similar work rates in my opinions.

I'm a bit concerned, Why would Golden boy put Canelo vs Trout? Now I actually think its a wonderful idea for both fighters. But why would Golden boy do this freely? I smell a fix.

Cotto might not have been in his prime but he took the #1 fighter in the world to the brink in his fight prior to facing Trout!

The Cotto that Trout fought is better than Lopez, Mosley, Cintron, Gomez, Rhodes, Ndou & Baldomir put together

I don't see the point your trying to make!?
Cotto was competitive against Mayweather. But the outcome was never in doubt. To say he took him to the brink is really stretching it. Actually it's just plain false. Jose Luis Castillo is the only fighter to push Mayeweather to the brink. Cotto just put up a fight. It was his last great effort. The Cotto that fought Trout would of been knocked out by Alvarez. Trout gets some credit for beating Cotto. But no need to go over board
Come on cuz, maybe "The brink" was the wrong word... but Mayweather in no way had it easy!

Floyd got hit cleanly in that fight than in many of his previous bouts, bar the Mosley right

I'm pretty sure there were only a couple of rounds in it when I watched it

Sure the Castillo fight is debatable, but that was the hardest Mayweather has had to work since Castillo

The Cotto that lost to Trout probably still beats Alvarez...
The cotto that lost to trout probably beats Alvarez? What are you basing this on? Wow
Just showing how easy it is to say sh*t!

There's a reason they fight the fights! No one knows for sure what will happen until they get in the ring...

For the record Cotto would still be one of the best fighters Alvarez has fought & I'd give him a good shot at victory!

Finito read my post, I said "brink" was probably the wrong word & explained what I meant

Take the time to read the thread

I just get annoyed with those that say Canelo will do this & that, but the fact is he ain't done jack! Sure he has definitely improved & grown as a fighter but he hasn't fought anyone decent yet.

Trout is the second best light middle with Canelo number 1, discounting Floyd out of this. Saul and Trout should fight and it is the best fight out there. Winner can take on Floyd at this unnatural weight for him against the bigger fighters. This is the only reason the fights are competitive against Floyd.

Come on now. Who you trying to fool with that? You're one of the few posters here who's posts I actually read and acknowledge. So I know for a fact you don't really believe that. Cotto looked slow and pridictable against Trout. Alvarez would of wrecked him. And I'm sure you know that. It's the reason he declined a fight with him recently. It wouldn't be much of a challenge. You like Trout. That's fine. He's a talented fighter. But I just don't see much in him. In terms of success I see Alvarez having a Julio Cesar Chavez, Juan Manuel Marquez type of career. For Trout I see a Maurice Blocker, William Joppy type of career

Yeah Trout does seem like a bit of a wet leaf. But he is talented.

Claiming Floyd fought "down to Cotto's level" is 10 times the exaggeration you claim the word "brink" is. Don't let your disdain of Cotto color your judgement. Most people who saw the fight know Cotto gave his toughest test in many years. Floyd fans and/or Cotto haters expected Floyd to just walk through Cotto. It didn't happen that way. Personally, I readily admitted to Cotto's defeat as the fight was concluding. I don't let bias color my judgement. And this "sitting in the pocket" analogy is just ridiculous. Been watching too much football (or listening to Teddy Atlas).

He totally fought down to Cotto's level to try to make a more exciting fight (like he mentioned). I love Cotto, but he's not (and never was) near Floyd's level.

I hope you, Finito, and VD don't mind... if I'd rather hear it from the main source.

This fought down to Cotto's level is laughable

I don't know many people that go to work & decide to have a tough day by choice...

I guess Floyd let himself get bruised and bloodied on purpose, just to give the crowd a good show.
    What a guy.

I said the outcome of the fight was never in doubt. I never said Mayweather fought down to Cotto's level. Those are two different things, stupid.

I had the fight 117-111 Mayweather. What you score it?
