Question Somewhat impressive 8th round TKO for Lamont Peterson

So how do think Peterson would do against Danny Garcia, Brandon Rios, Lucas Matthysse or Amir Khan in a rematch?

    Peterson beats them all.
    Garcia by unanimous
    Mathyse by split decision
    Rios and khan by knockout

I'd only pick him over Khan myself, but 3 of them would be good fights. He looked solid tonight, but he always has against the level of fighter which Holt proved to be currently. He doesn't quite have world class skills or talent, isn't a great thinker in the ring and is pretty easy to hit at the highest level. I don't think he has the punch or abandon to turn a fight around quickly once things aren't going his way, at least thats my take. If a guy has him outgunned, isn't completely chinny or a basket case etc and shows up in shape it's a long night for Peterson. He certainly froze right up against Bradley once he was getting worked over, and I thought that Ortiz clearly beat him despite not looking good either. Rios is still hard for me to size up as he is just such a crude little fucker and doesn't seem to mind getting hit with anything, I'd love to see Peterson take him on though. Garcia I think is to strong and just as good, and that goes tenfold for Mattyhse. I wouldn't give Peterson a shot in hell against Lucas tbh, don't see how he'd win that.

Your right there's nothing special about him but I feel like the only one of the fighters in this thread that can beat him clearky is khan but by decision. Maybe mathyse if he lands a monster right cuz he hits hard. But Garcia and rios I don't think can beat him. Tonight I thought he was going to lose with the way things were going then boom things completely turned around.

Agreed, Peterson looked like a world beater last night, but except for a rematch with Khan, I don't see him going anywhere, especially when he fights outside of his nest in DC.
Rios would break him down and knock him out in one of the later rounds, D. Garcia and Matthysse would knock him kicking in 6 rounds or less. - that's a fact jack.

Matthyse goes to prison after their fight for murder, petterson fights the way loves to fight except lucas punches harder and has shown a sturdier chin thus far. Khan if he ever gets his mind right and doesnt gas in last rounds can outbox most anyone, that goes for peterson. Rios ends the night early at some point, danny boxes him to a decision. I just dont think peterson is anything special having a good showing against a b level fighter is nothing new for him but when he fights the top he usually comes up short.

I think Peterson could lose to all those guys

I'd give him the best chance against Khan

Peterson is a cautious guy. In his post fight interview he said he started throwing harder punches after he saw Holt could not hurt him.
Giving away two or three rounds to caution is not going to work with Garcia, Rios or Mathysse in my opinion.
Peterson did great after he got started, I hope Hunter can help him shed some of that caution. I wonder if Khan would fight him again?

I don't know, but Khan's chin seems to be shit lately, so if they do fight i'd have to favor Peterson.

With Peterson what you see is what you get. Nothing great but does everything decent. He capatilized on a war torn Holt and showed patience...a Peterson staple...early and closed the show when he was in full control. To me a rematch with Khan has to happen. Khan is seeing fit to meet a guy in Julio Diaz who the same Holt left cold with a single hook not even a year ago. Weird how this boxing world revolves.

    I think Matthysee flattens him

I'd see Rios wearing him down & taking him out late

Ditto on Matthysse. Even with his ear muffs square shoulder guard Lucas would come from the basement and break through. Holt even caught him early and playing that wait around and lay in is playing with fire with Matthysse.

Lean towards Rios too because Peterson fights like a slugger with a boxers frame, not tall and mobile. He'd be hitting Rios with nothing but a rolled up newspaper.

Peterson loses them all. Possibly scrapes a win over Garcia but loses to the rest comfortably.

Can't agree really, I think Khan is by far the most winnable fight for him as he's already done that and Amir has been flattened again since. Him looking bad for the first few rounds against Holt is exactly what leaves me unimpressed, if Holt could actually fight beyond little spurts or had any kind of a chin at all he would've ran right away with that. Of course he can't remotely do those things, but Mattyhse, Garcia and Rios all at least appear to be very well conditioned guys with a solid output. Mattyhse is a very underrated boxer imo, he hits hard but also lands big shots because he is clever and methodical. He wouldn't need to rely on single shots to beat Peterson by any means, he is far and away the better fighter over 12 rounds imo.
