Yeah disappointed with the choice of opponent
Lets hope he stays active & steps up next time out
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
Looks like 50 cents wants to put out just as much on getting the fighters he has under contract back to the top
Duran is actually a tough hard plugging simple dude but he'll be facing a lt heavy and we'll see a bore snore 10 rounder for Dirrell. Lets hope the co feature is quality? Or Teddy has a few pints prior to air? Anything really![]()
Is there so much hate for Andre Dirrell because he beat Froch ? Is there still a good amount who still think he faked the DQ against Abraham ?
I like Dirrell. I did think it was BS he opted out of fighting Andre Ward, but otherwise he's a hell of a talent and good boxer.
Agree this fight doesn't do much for him as Ossie Duran is a durable journeyman who is often in boring fights.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Dirrell needs to be busy and active just to get his confidence back, and to let him know how much he has left which should be plenty.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
What frustrates me about Dirrell is his lack of desire to face Ward. It's a fight that he would go in as the underdog, but in my opinion, has a solid shot at shocking the world.
The easiest way for him to climb back into the driver's seat is to beat a rough challenger. The ideal type of opponent would be Sakio Bika or Adonis Stevenson. Dirrell against either guy is a Showtime-level fight easy.
50 Cent has revolutionised boxing by signing top fighters, not getting them fights for a year and then getting them a coveted Friday Night Fights slot so they can lose a split decision.
I think Dirrell finally showed some balls in the Abraham fight. He looked the real deal there but it may just have been because Abraham has trouble with bigger guys. But the way the fight ended and his subsequent career makes me think he's weak mentally. I don't think he'll do anything special in his career but hopefully he proves me wrong.
