For most fighter-athletes in combat-sports, there are few rewards. A handful make serious coin (and squander it almost as fast), but the majority make a few bucks per fight and leave the sport with no money and a damaged body. That said, the money is even far, far less in womens' boxing; what motivates them to get into it? There's just not enough public demand to create huge paydays and never will be. I guess they just like to fight, and maybe the fame without the fortune is enough...
I don't give a r@t$ @$$ regarding it being wrong or not for women to fight each other in a ring or cage: all combat sports should be illegal in any civilized country anyway. It's legalized assault whether man or woman, and every year, 5 to 10 fighters die in some venue somewhere around the world. Thousands of screaming eye-witnesses to a life-ending physical beating, and no charges. Same for hockey-fights. Technically, a policeman should go out there on the ice, arrest them and take them to the pokey for the night.
