Frankly, it's a great match-up. Martinez is coming off of a big surgery on his knee. Martinez relies on being able to zip in and out against opponents. If he can't move around the ring with the same ease, he'll be in trouble against a monster like Golovkin. In addition, if he has retained that speed of foot, Golovkin would eventually walk through his punches. If, however, Martinez has the same ability to move, I see Golovkin getting outboxed in a decision.
The fight I most want to see for Golovkin is a unification fight with Quillin, assuming Martinez beats Murray and fights Junior in September, and Junior beats Macklin (rumored opponent). None of which is set in stone.
I wish Martinez would take on Golovkin (or for that matter, Quillin or Geale) instead of facing Junior again, but hey there's more money in a Junior fight. On that note, I hope Martinez sticks by his requirement Junior take VADA drug tests this time. I sincerely doubt that Junior can make 160 legally.
