I wonder whether a few pieces of dark paper and some scotch tape would've done the trick (at least on the nearest monitors).

you turn off the monitors and no one else can watch it.

do they still have to buy headphones to listen to movies? plug them in and listen to music, colour, read a book.

If they altered movies for all audiences they'd only play cartoons and people would bitch about that. When I was younger I remember they would play family movies on day flights, evening and night flights would be more adult, I guess the theory being it's the middle of the night your fucking kids should be sleeping!
