Thatcher was nasty and she didn't only break society at home, but she pushed her own people overseas. Me and most of the people I know left because we were all devoid of anything there. In my case it was 1.2% pay rises every year, the end of company pensions, not allowed to make a union. What was the other one? Working until 10pm and being allowed to 'bank' the time? Apalling really. Oh, vacation pay based around around contract hours and disregarding what you normally did. There is so much more I could say about William Hill who operate on every high street and that was a growing industry. That is the type of business that Thatcher loved. Cost cutting on every aspect of labour just so that you could say you are growing. A business based around ripping people off and the customer was never enough.
Apparently today a British high street is nothing more than fast food, bookies and pawnbrokers. Thank you, Thatcher.
