@Saddo A number of reasons mate, It comes out of very deep water but its very shallow breaking over rock bottom and the wave is thicker than most waves cause of that set up and hits twice as hard. You have to get towed in at this size cause its hits too hard and to fast to be able to get up the speed to paddle into it. That camera isnt lieing either its that close to the cliffs, so if you come off and cant fight against the next waves and swim under them you are getting smashed into the cliffs that those dudes are standing on. I been surfing for just under 40 years and I couldnt live out there it would kill me. Its a another level of fitness and the mental game just to be there and keep your heart rate down when you do come a guttser.
Also its in Botany Bay it really is full of bronze whalers so its a numbers game people dont swim in Sydney harbour or in Botany bay late evening or early morning, cause many have been dragged under.

Shit load of reasons. Heavy crew too, you go out and mess someone up even accidentally get in the way and you get a new teeth arrangement then your car gets customized an your board snapped.
