Just asking coz a lot of blokes dont have a clue what they are on about and if they disagree with you, they just post childish bullshit.

I agree with James Toney on this,to really know boxing you have got to have put the gloves on and done a bit.

I dont think that has anything to do with whether or not people have experienced what its like to have boxed. Boxing forums, like any other, are full of know it alls (know nothings) and dick heads.

Some great boxers are terrible judges of fights and offer no insight at all when asked for their opinions where as some of the most respected "experts" have never fought in the ring.

I believe Enzo Calzaghe was just a fan when he first brought Joe to the gym and must of known something where as for all James Toneys brilliance in the ring over the years his "expert" opinion on Calzaghe-Lacy was "Its a mismatch. Lacy is going to destroy that boy. He's too strong, he's a fighter - he's proved himself."

good points but i believe announcers, judges and refs. should have at least some experience because those who lack a close empathy with the sport maybe more easily manipulated to cheat a fighter for a quick buck.
