Slayer certainly brought it and all though King could arguably be seen as more influential they would not have been the same band without Hanneman. Kind of Ironic that a band famed for grizzly imagery in lyric and artwork should lose a member to such a graphic flesh eating disorder caused by a spider bite. That's pretty Rock n Roll right there.
