I hate hype and bandwagons, so off the top I say no! Meanwhile I'll try to think of someone who is. Don't think its Bailey. Matthysse is actually a two handed fighter and doesn't wait around for you to make mistakes..he makes them for you.
[QUOTE=IamInuit;1156677]I did. Not that I think Matthysse was as big a banger P4P as Jackson (no one was IMO), but what I was saying is that he has the same kind of power that Jackson had where even a glancing blow can end a night. A true 2-handed KO machine who puts the fear of god in guys even when the punches are blocked.
Regardless of how Matthysse stacks up in p4p punching power, I was impressed by that first knockdown of Peterson. Watching it live, at first I thought he had missed with that wide left hook.... and then Peterson inexplicably tripped and fell. So I was puzzled when it was scored a knockdown. Then I saw the replay and saw how the punch clipped Peterson just above the temple area. As Lamont moved away, in a delayed reaction his feet lost coordination... and he tripped and fell in the corner.
Amazing. Had that punch landed more solidly... or on the chin... there would've been no standing 8-count.
Did Lucas land a clean punch? I didn't see him land a clean punch.
His power is real. It is concussive, scary power. I also think he can box a little bit. Not the best in the business, but he can box. I thought he beat Alexander and Judah in tight fights, but he might have got better since those fights. Judah said afterward that Matthysse is the hardest puncher he has ever faced.
