We got what we wanted people. Mayweather is the man for accepting this fight. Seriously dangerous fight, I'm already foaming at the mouth.

The fight is at 152lbs and their are 4 titles at stake being Alvarez' Ring, WBC & WBA Regular Titles, and Floyd's WBA Super Title he won against Cotto.

Mayweather-Canelo at 152-Pounds, Four Titles at Stake - Boxing News
The thing is Mayweather will get beat at one point. Fair play to him though and his team and. Seriously

You can tell his team thought "OK. Who is baddest young cat out there in or around my weight division ?"

    And it probably was Canelo.

He could have easily chose a Devon Alexander or Tim Bradley who are no mugs but Mayweather would have UD'ed them for sure

    But Canelo ? Wow.

No one can say S**T about Mayweather ducking anybody.

I will say shit about it. At 152? What a typical Mayweather joke. Canelo will be shot before he starts.

Im so excited for this fight. Don't get why people are upset at the 152, lets not forget mayweather did fight at 154, but fought guys that use to fight at 140, 147 and even they were naturally bigger than maywaether. Canelo on the other hand couldn't make 147 if his life depended on it. He's huge compared to mayweather, he could easily fight at 160. And both times at 154 mayweather didn't look all that great, its not fair for a star to give away all the advantages.

I am an Alvarez fan but if a 22 yr old young man is that affected by 2 pounds against a 36 yr old who is naturally 5 pounds lighter then maybe he should make the 4 pound jump to middleweight himself. It is stupid to not be 154 but the idea that Saul will be shot at the weight is ridiculous. I don't think Mayweather was ever as worried about meeting him as has been made out and will relish the opportunity to enhance his legacy. I can't knock him on this one and though Alvarez does have a punchers chance he will struggle against such a slick craftsmen. It's a great fight. Now is the time to do it before age slows Floyd's legs.

I agree with Gandalf. Alvarez struggles to make 154 and stamina is poor due to this. Losing another 2 pounds will have a big effect and will really struggle late on in this fight.

If it was at 154 he would struggle late on. He needs to go to work early because there is not a scenario in any script where he wins on points. He is more than capable of stopping Floyd even after coming in at 152 the day before. His trouble will be landing the kind of shot needed.

What makes you think he is "more then capable of stopping" Mayweather? He has a solid chin and is very hard to hit.

I'm not sure Sulaiman is going to turn down the sanctioning fee for a fight this size. Anybody know if/what the penalty per pound is if the ginger comes in over 152?

I think we're going to see another Floyd masterclass here.

Props to Floyd for taking this fight and finally fighting more than once a year. You guys give catchweights too much negative feedback. Floyd is not a light middleweight and will never be one. Canelo is not a welterweight so a catchweight makes sense to make this fight. 152 is only two pounds below the limit. I'm actually surprise Floyd agreed to 152. I would of thought it at 150, but Floyd will def be giving up a lot of weight to a much younger fighter.

    Floyd by easy UD.

Glad they made the fight, and credit to both not just Floyd. But 152 is bs. You want legacy, fighting for greatness, just cut the parlor tricks and move up already. He's done it before. Suppose he whips Howdy Doody...then what, Martinez at 153 1/4 lbs. I def don't think it'll be for 4 belts. The wbc strap will be stashed back in Papa Jose trunk quicker than the judges next of kin by fight night.

Huh. First of all Floyd asked for a cut in between and asked for150.5 and that was refused. It was part of his game. He's never asked for a catch in his life. Fact is, it was Alvarez that offered 152. And where did this weakening thing all of a sudden come up? The notion that 2 pounds to a man that will weigh close to 175 24 hours later being weakened is patently absurd. Physiology 101.
I'm an in shape 170 pounder and I can go to bed at 170 wake up for a dump and a piss and be 168 the following morning. If Alvarez only weighed 162 or something at fight time it might have an effect but this is just straw grabbing by Floyd detractors. And to be honest quite lame.

Here's a good point I read somewhere. It's actually a compliment to Canelo. Floyd didn't make Cotto or De La Hoya come in at a catch weight. Clearly, he viewed Canelo differently. Now, it's hypocritical in that he bashed Pacquiao for having Cotto come in two pounds under welterweight, but hey, I view that as Floyd just bashing Manny, which he does all the time, and you have to take with a grain of salt.

Saul can win this he has height, reach, youth, weight and hunger. This is the proverbial handing the torch from one great to another as Floyd took from ODH who took from JCC ect. This is the fight of the year and i am excited already. Canelo has effective punches and good speed.

But Floyd did not make Alvarez do it either my friend. The 12 to 15 million dollar payday for Alvarez did. They are the ones by all the reports I've seen so far that countered with 152. Floyd probably asked for 150.5 because of the massive weigh disparity and his typical game playing.

And this is where people get it wrong. Not all catch weights are equal in physical taxation. The comparison or attempts to do so between Manny asking for one with Cotto or Oscar and the one offered by Alvarez are apples and oranges. It will simply not have any effect on a guy that weighs close to lightheavyweight on fight night. He will probably rehydrate to the exact same weight he does when its 154. Cotto was not a big welter let alone a big jr. middle so when the catch weight was forced upon him that 2 pounds had a much greater effect. Oscar had not made welter in close to a decade.

Grant it either way Floyd accepted and should take a little flack but its simply not any kind of debilitating factor given the rehydration rate of Alvarez.

Canelo asked for it. Not floyd.
Canelo said ages ago he would fight at a catchweight.
