The thing that subsequently struck me was that this event exposed all the glaring holes, corruptions, hypocrisies and contradictions in all facets of our society - to the point where I just had to turn my back on it all.
But anyway... Poor lad, if it was an actual soldier, I probably wouldn't mind as much - it's a soldiers job to kill or be killed (sounds terrible) but killing a drummer boy somehow highlights the feeble nature of it all. I mean I doubt this does much to bolster the extremists position. This was a supposed act of terror but we're hardly terrified by it ay?
The only lingering thing is the trial and media coverage. The attackers should have been disposed of quickly and unceremoniously - not have his bloody hands put on national newspapers and television sets for millions of little eyes to see ('terrorism' eh?).
