In the seventies I went on two ski trips to Whitefish and had a blast. My step dad went to the University in Missoula and played on the Butte bombers hockey team and although some don't believe me, Evil Knievel played with him and was the teams skating coach. He's got the team pictures behind his bar. My dad played goalie and still does in the old timer leagues in Calgary.

I always thought Montana would secede and join Canada
Back in 2003, I went into this bar called the Pair-A-Dice to have a couple beers. The bartender and the guy two stools down were telling old Butte stories, which I love hearing, so I was shamelessly eavesdropping. The guy on the other stool turned around and it was Evel Knievel. He had this friend- part owner of Muzz & Stan's Bar, I don't know if it was Muzz or Stan- that owned a pink convertible Cadillac and you'd see the two of them riding around town in it.
Secession is a topic that comes up pretty regularly. Somehow, it didn't come up at all during this year's legislative session. Given all the anti-gun stuff going on, that is very suprising because that is usually where it gets started.
