Here we go again. A boxer lands a bomb and now he's Joe Louis. He almost tripped over his own feet before that shot. Not sold yet.
Replay on now, 5th of Gamboa v Perez. Don't know if Gamboa ever really knew who he was in the ring to begin with
Lol I hear ya and I'm a Stevenson fan. I cant believe some of the people on some forums now calling Chad "shot" or a "bum". Just HTF do they come up with that conclusion? The fight lasted about a minute and he got caught by a perfect counter left over the top by a fellow southpaw. I was one of the first to say it and stick by it now that Chad would be weakened because of the foolishness of going to 168 after 6 years at 175 whether he agreed to it or not. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. But last night certainly did not prove that and really proved very little of where Chad is at. All it proved is that Chad cant take a flush shot on the chin by most likely the biggest puncher from 168-175. And who could?
Btw and slightly off topic, its kind of a joke that he becomes this "lineal" lh champ after that.
I hear you, punchers do take a lot of punishment before they can land the finisher which makes them look slow and plodding or one dimensional. Sometimes they are successful--like Maidana--and get a lot of oohs and aahs, sometimes they are unsuccessful--like Arreola--and become the biggest bum of the last 100 years. The fickleness of fight fans is well documented.
I was live at the Bell Center for the bout.
I was confident that Stevenson would pull out an upset because Dawson is a bit shaky mentally but... I thought that the knocked out would happen around the 7th. Still; WOW. what a left cross. I think that this fight was pretty meaningful for both Dawson and Stevenson (not to say his whole promotion company GYM).
2 consecutive knock out for a guy who strifes to sell tickets is quite bad. I am pretty sure that Shaw will have stomach aches over the next few weeks. For Stevenson, at 35, it means one or 2 extra big payday, which is welcome at thisstage of his career. He did call out Hopkins, somewhere, I think more that it'll end up with Froch (Hopkins said that he doesn't want to fight big puncher at this stage of his career, let along an agressive kind of fighter Kronk style).
As for GYM, rumors are strong that Jean Pascal doesn't want to sign again with thm once his contract is over (in good part because GYM did struggle to put him in a ring these last 2 years) and some rumors were signing him with 50 cents. IF I consider how he did spend his whole evening with him and did almost carress his leg in public, I think that there is some truth to that potential rumor.

How would b hop do against him?
Stevenson sparked Bad Chad , is this the end of the road his last 2 fights ended in him getting
KO I feel this doe's not look good for his carer.
Two KO's on the bounce, is not going to do his confidence any good this could be the end.
Boy, was that ever a hellacious shot, eh...
I noticed Dawson's head didn't bang off the canvas. Good sign because when their head bounces off the floor, that's more damage.
Dawson was given a long count too, anyone notice, 2 extra seconds. Didn't matter as he was on his feet within the regulation 10 seconds anyway, and it's amazing that he got up from such a shot.
He was up at the ref's count of 7, but 9 seconds had elapsed.
Dawson appeared to be feeling out the rd, not going at top speed, whereas Stevenson was comin' out with his foot on the gas. Stevenson's top speed straight left beat Dawson's lazy right jab to the target.
I think Dawson will win the rematch should they do one. He'll adapt.
Dawson's liability is he consistently doesn't protect the right side of his head, and that's where he always gets caught. He carries his right hand low, he brings it back low. Even at 30 years old, that could be corrected with enough drilling and repetition.

I liked how Ward was commentating live and saw it in front of his own eyes and it belittled what he did to Dawson. He brought Dawson down a weight. Stevenson went up a weight and fought Dawson where he was strong and comfortable. Ward was just saying how good Dawsons feet were and then bang, down goes Dawson and Wards performance against Dawson.![]()

Dawson is a plank and he is done at the top now. I dont understand his mentality. First he goes down to a silly lighter weight and gets knocked out and then goes back up against a puncher and gets sparked. He's done and has half thrown it away on his own. This showing was woeful and his china is now china.
