I have a handful of friends and family in law enforcement and while they are generally good people they all to varying degrees feel that they have special rights and are above certain laws. They ALL complain about the 4th amendment. There are plenty of good people that are in law enforcement but the dirth of stories and videos of police behaving badly, particularly toward law abiding citizens shows a pretty big cultural issue in American law enforcement.
It's not about a pat on the back, I'm just saying that the the ratio of poor policing videos/stories to good ones doesn't paint the clearest picture because, as you said - nobody cares when the Police get it right.

It all becomes anecdotal because we only log things (and this isn't just the Police) that piss us off or offend us etc, when was the last time you sat with a friend who ranted at you for 20 minutes about the great customer service they received in a shop?
