He got the hell rocked out of him by Edison Miranda too if memory serves me correctly. I think he's got an average chin but has covered it up with his style and his confidence.

As people said, he tried to emulate roy jones in the beginning and got clipped. He didnt have the speed /reflexes for the wide open style and found out the hard way. Since then he tries to get off first and keep his punches straight, follow through and fall into his opponents (sometimes with heads or shoulders) , tie up and then do his work on the inside where the leverage is taken off a lot of the punches and then bang his way out so his opponents are covering up when he leaves or having the ref separate the fighters makes for a safe exit. Good lateral movement and a willingness to throw while ward is stepping out will do wonders for an opponent.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.
Roy Jones, Jr. "What I've Learned," Esquire 2003
Ward did try and fight like Roy Jones but I think he found he could not continue to fight like him against better opponents and he changed the way he boxed more to the style of Hopkins. I think his chin is OK and not suspect to the degree of Khan or Audley.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Ward knocked out Dawson in the last third of the fight so I'm not about his failure to end fights strong.
Ward has held a lot in the past, but he didn't excessively hold in his most recent fight, his fight with Dawson.
Also, to the first point, with his fight with Kessler, Kessler was stopped on a cut in the end of the fight.
Sometimes guys have another boxer's number. Styles make fights. Ward has Froch's number. It's not that big of a deal. I would prefer to see Froch face Hopkins or Kessler in a rubber match.
I think Kessler and Froch just happen to make great fights. I saw both fights close. In their second fight, I saw Froch with a better start and more consistent use of his jab, but Kessler had the better singular power punches. I think a third fight would be another terrific one.
With Hopkins, it would be another way to compare Froch's career with Calzaghe's.
Dawson basically fell over frm exhaustion, that happens when you have to lose an extra 7 lbs....
He didnt feel like he had to hold Dawson as Dawson had no strength. People see what they want when they are a fan of a fighter but Wards win over Dawson is no more impressive than Frochs over Mack. It was a watse of a fight.
I don't think it was a waste. He fought a very capable guy and beat the shit out of him worse than anyone did (until Stevenson of course).
But yeah I agree that the weight cutting definitely hurt Dawson's performance.
Ross is stretching it there but you see his point, Dawson was weight drained and may never be the same fighter again.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Dawson was no more of a threat at super middle than Mack was. Dawson is a big pile of dog shit.
Pascal had already beaten him at his own weight.
Froch anihalated Mack like he was nothing. Ward even with a weak fighter in front of him still took ages to yave an impact. Had that been Bika, Kessler or Froch fighting Dawson, Dawson wouldnt have done any better than Mack did against Froch.
The bottom line is that Ward might have a suspect chin, but you can't knock out what you can't hit, and Froch couldn't hit it. For that matter, either could Kessler hit it.
If there was a chin on the loose, it would be high on the wanted list. In other words I think he has a suspect chin.
