Just occured to me...they've already got a show about a mixed martial artists...

    SAMURAI JACK

That dude did some hardcore training with all the different martial arts all across the globe....even across time!

That being said, the average person doesn't want to see real MMA. They want to see the human cockfights that were always talked about back in the old days of UFC. They don't want to see a Gracie armbar someone, they want to see someone snapping someone's arm in half, then punching their face into a bloody pulp. When people want to see an action flick, they want to see gunshots, flips, explosions and blood, not serious athletes competing in a serious sport, with almost no hatred and plenty of good sportsmanship.

Look at boxing in movies....the most famous boxing movies by far are the Rocky movies (note:most famous...not necessarily best). But the boxing in that movie is insanely terrible. That's because people don't want to see the sweet science of boxing...they want to see two huge guys beating the ever living crap out of each other.

As much as I'd love to see it break into mainstream hollywood, I'd rather not see them bastardize and ultimately ruin the sport by bringing the John McCain way of thinking about MMA into the minds of people all across the States.
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?

I agree with you on F1 Von...did I just say that? Anyway I'm a NASCAR fan myself but there is no denying the huge fanbase of open wheel. The only issue I have with F1 getting lots of coverage(in the US) is that its not really an American org so even American open wheel fans would rather see IRL or CART. I'm not really sure what kind of numbers open wheel racing puts up in the US, but there is no denying the numbers MMA puts up.
