I think Scott quit and his reaction afterwards said it all - acted like he couldn't give a fuck, he should have been going mental like his trainer. If he didn't quit then he should have done some homework on Brit refs, there aren't any Steve Smoger's over here.

Billy Joe looked good against a guy he was meant to look good against. That lack of power though is gonna get him found out.

He was never going anywhere. Hes skillfull but doesnt have the desire.

Hes been a pro since 2000! 13 years!

This was his first real step up in 13 years! He has been a pro so long he sparred Lennox Lewis in one of his camps!

    agreed, he quit

and he started getting up at 9 and was on his way up at 10, so either way he didnt beat the count

if it was a fighter who really wanted to continue it would have been harsh

He was up at 9! He should have been allowed to continue. At the same time, I didn't see any complaining from him at the call.

Still have not seen it! But when you cut it at 9 you are totally at refs discretion. It's a fluid thing a count, need to stabilize. Don't know if it was a struggle type rise or he was clear and following count ? but its the refs call. Save the yourself the trouble and try hard to stay off the canvas in first place?!

Well, just caught it on another site.

He wasn't up even at 9. He started, initiated at 9 still in a down posture.. not erect stable on feet. It's 100 percent on him. Ref did his job.

I just cant agree. He may have taken a little long but that's his right and he was well up on the nine count and the ref was not on his way to ten. The ref was waving it off at the very point in time when he would have been saying 10 had Scott not been standing upright.

when the ref waved which could have been 9 and a half and not 10 he still wasnt totally up

    i think he bottled it

if hed have been half way up at 9 and a half and telling the ref he wanted to go on and looking enthusiastic id have said it was very harsh

Granted I'm watching on mobile but have seen it at least 10 times. It looked like he was drapping the ropes (were they loose as Hell or what) and got clubbed off top-ear and crumpled. He had a half awake-dazzed look the entire time. He looked aloof. He was still in crouch and not up at 9, if ref 'reaches' 10...that pace count...the wave off equals reaching 10 at pace. Whatever it was, its on the fighter in that case. I don't think he was taking time, he looked buzzed. Now we've seen refs in others "speed" up a count near end. I didn't see that there.

It shouldn't have been stopped. He was up before 10 plain and simple. Scott is stupid and should have got up earlier but 10 hadn't been reached. The joke is if u get up at 8 u get another 5 or 6 seconds anyway as the ref checks you.

no he wasnt, he was up at 10 (and even thats debateable)

the question in all this isnt whether or not he was up, the question is should the ref have let it continue

he wasnt up at 10 so perhaps the answer is no as those are the rules, but i dont think anyone would have argued if he had have let it go

Let's put this in perpective here

If Scott wasn't up then Balboa wasn't up in 79 at the Philadelphia Spectrum. Had he not made that then many of our lives would not have been defined.

    Rematch for Scott
