Broner is apparently going to F*** Matthysse up after Maidana

Broner is going to get seriously tested against Maidana. Maidana isn't Paulie and is going to be there to hit but Broner is going to take plenty back. I'm a big believer in Broner's potential, but if he stands in front of a puncher like Matthyse in a defensive shell he's going to get obliterated IMO.

Guess he tired of filming himself playing in the toilet in fast food joints. Be a little more convincing if he went 140, did work, instead of barking from the backseat while Matthysse walks into a real fight rather than a scripted showcase

Good post, but as you point out it works both ways. Maidana needs to force exchanges in order to win rounds, and I think Broner hits harder than him and takes a better shot as well. This will probably look a bit like the Demarco fight, imo.

Im not going to gauge Broner's ability as a welterweight until he faces somebody who can box and has the punching power to hurt him at the weight..

Paulie Malignaggi dont count.. I never saw him as a test.

Paulie wasn't a great test solely because he doesn't have power though, his boxing skills are up there with all the top guys around the division aside from Floyd. It may well have been a good learning experience for Broner, have to remember he's still very young.

Precisely.. That's why it irritates me when people regarded Paulie as some kinda test.. I dont mean to knock on him but he's a recycled fighter and a safe stepping stone for these up n coming guys because he can't punch through a wet paper bag.

WHen you are facing featherfisted guys like Paulie, you have one less thing to think about .. You dont have to be concerened about the incoming punches which gives you more freedom to do whatever you want..

When you are fighting someone with good conventional boxing skills and footwork, it's much harder to get yourself in position to do real damage, especially as a counter puncher. I think Matthyse would beat Broner because he can actually box and control the ring as well as hitting really hard.

That's a good point . But when you are facing somebody like Paulie and Cory Spinks, you have less pressure, knowing that your opponent can't hurt you..

That alone lifts alot of weight off your shoulders..

Imho zab would be the worst fight for broner.
Theres more chance of broner beating maidana and matthysse than beating an old zab.

Matthysse and maidana are the easier options. (Not easier but better suited to broners style)
