For me Stevens would be a lot more live in a match with the winner of Barker-DeGale, although I doubt that fight makes sense for anyone involved. And so you should receive backlash, for wanting to see Mora fight anyone
That was impressive. Is it December yet? Starving for points I took him as a long shot upset. Thought Stevens might fold under pressure. Just wanted to get my feet wet my first Saddo challenge and instead I'm drowning.

    Interesting read here.

That's a bit crazy that they offered Murray more money than he got for Martinez and he turned down the fight.
I thought Murray couldn't get a US visa though

The same Curtis Stevens that was KOd by a journeyman?

    Against Golovkin? ..... Hardly.

I don't like Golovkin, and I sort of like Stevens but it seems unlikely that Stevens static style would trouble GGG.

I think there was mention of the fight in the UK. If you saw Murray's reaction to GGG's KO of Murray, this is not super surprising.

Murray has no chance.. Id rather see Stevens get a shot because he brings a puncher's chance.

GGG's has fought a bunch of JMWs and guys who couldnt check his chin ..

Definitely want to see him against a young puncher whose not afraid of him.

GGG stops Curtis early. I have no problem with the fight happening but would much prefer GGG to be fighting bigger names. Hopefully he gets the winner of Barker/Geale but I reckon they are more likely to take on one of the other MWs then him

I would argue Murray is a tougher challenge than Stevens.

In boxing years, at 28, Stevens isn't young. Do you remember the "Chin Checkers" group he was in with Jaidon Coddington back in the early 2000's? (Maybe I have him mixed up, but I think that was him).

Also, as devastating as the KO was, Saul Roman was a career junior middleweight, not a middleweight. Moreover, Brinkley dominated Stevens. That doesn't bode well for Stevens in this match-up.

If you ask me, I like the idea of Stevens against Quillin for Stevens first, but for GGG, other than the Geale/Barker winner, Stevens is as good as anyone.

This reminds me of when Sam Peter left Jeremy Williams twitching on the canvas, even though it was chinny Williams and Peter never looked more than a fat plodder, he became a new heavyweight star.

I don't know much about Curtis Stevens, his record doesn't scream of murderous puncher, so if he's a consistently exciting fight merchant, I'm all for the Golovkin match, however I can't believe anyone that got outboxed by Jesse Brinkley could possibly have a hope in hells against Golovkin.

Curtis Stevens is there to be outboxed by anybody really. He has a better chance of beating Golovkin than say an Austin Trout because he just can not find a guy who is not in front of him. But to put it plainly his only chance to beat Golovkin is to land the first bomb and even that is less likely because Golovkin can actually box. He doesn't get his credit for that. Golovkin knows when to throw and where to throw it. Curtis Stevens doesn't have the feet or consistent placement/timing that Golovkin does. But he may very well have the same kind of power though. Stevens was knocking people out in the amateurs at 165 and 178. Believe me he is a murderous puncher...but his power seems to subside later and his punches are not very difficult to avoid. And dude is seriously like 5'6". I don't know what they list him at but I'm pretty sure he is like 5'6" in person. So going down to 160 is much better for him and his effectiveness. 168 was never good for him. Guys like Andre Berto and Shawn Porter also fought at 165 in the amateurs(Porter won a national Golden Gloves title at 165) but they knew coming in that wouldn't be good for a long pro career considering their lack of height. Stevens is just now getting hip to that. But my prediction of Golovkin/Stevens would be Golovkin by KO2. That fight would be fast because Stevens knows he has to land first but the difference would actually be Golovkin's ring generalship and IQ.

Derrick findley had a cruder, rougher, unpolished lesser view of what Golovkin can do to Stevens minus the devestating impact. I don't think he'll see the 5th round.

Yes I did see that and I am not surprised either it not happening. But this is only GGGs side of the story, so it would be interesting to hear what Murray has to say.
