Just out of curiosity, what measures are taken to make sure a fighter isn't just pulling out... I mean is he examined by doctors for any set amount of time or anything like that or can he just stop in, see his personal physician and get a sick note 5 days before the fight.. Cuz this sucks and it makes me think Abraham is scared.

I don't think it was Sauerland's fault, they will lose too much by pushing the fight back. I don't think Abraham was ready and is buying more time. I'll say this for Abraham though, at least he's cancelled in advance and didn't do a Danny Williams and wait until the morning of the fight.

If Abraham REALLY does have the flu than they will not reschedule the fight until after Sept. After a run in with the flu the guy will need more than a few weeks to get back into shape.
If they do make the fight in mid-late sept than no doubt it was all bullshit and Abraham is nothing but a big pussy. I'll put my money on #2.

You can think all you want & make accusations all you want...but sick is sick. If he has the flu or the ass flu then he's been dehydrated & weak...you don't risk your title over that.

Maybe you don't realize what postion this puts Miranda in...
He has been training for 12 weeks for this fight. He has been in Germany for a week. He is in tip top shape and was going to be peaking for Saturday's fight. Now he has to travel 18 hours back to Puerto Rico and wait for Sauerland to give him his return date (and who knows how much warning he will be given). In the meantime he needs to put on weight and come off his peak. But how much should he gain? Depends on when the fight is. He doesn't know this so has to guess. How hard does he train this week and next week? Depends on when the fight is and again he'll have to guess. You can't just say "Hey Edison, stay at 160lbs for the next 30 days and be ready to travel 18 hours at a moment's notice and be prepared to fight within a few days". Oh..... But guess what, Sauerland CAN say this and you know damn well he will. Hopefully the IBF steps in and demands that Miranda be given a reasonable amount of time to prepare, hopefully.
In the meantime Abraham knows the REAL date and has been slowly coming down in weight to peak at the right time. Sounds crazy? Not to me!
