And you think Mayweather is displaying championship behavior by forcing the 2 extra pounds? I find it funny how people just ignore Mayweather always contradicting himself just to avoid criticizing him. Mayweather has already said Cotto is better than Alvarez and is expecting an easier time. If that's the case than fight him at 154. It's that simple
Although i will say this guys....., i've read on numerous sitees and articles that there is NO rehydration limit.....so lets wait and see how this wait issue plays out
Alvarez will be between 170 and 173 pounds whether he weighs in at 152 or 154. The bullshit over this two pounds is mind numbing.
My thoughts exactly. The Junior Middleweight division starts at 154. Not 152. One fighter is defending the WBC Junior Middleweight title. The other the WBA Light Middleweight title. Whatever you wanna call them there both 154 belts. Make the fight for 154. Stop being a pussy and demand your opponent drop 2 extra pounds.
Floyd made a wise choice by asking for CW cuz when he faced Oscar at 154, he didn't look like his usual self and he probably knows that better than anybody.
Just glad it's happening. If I except that prior to the bell than all excuses are void. It is bs that a trinket is on the line seeing that neither can max out to weight limit. But it also speaks to how irrelevant trinkets should be/ are. It doesn't matter really, going in Floyd 'knew' a Canelo would rehydrate and we look at unofficial weights today in excess of 10-15 lbs on what is a far to common basis. Alvarez has blown weight before and tossed money at it...so has Floyd! I think they train accordingly. These two were made for for each other. Just ring the bell and pray for honest judges![]()
Nothing Floyd isn't used to. According to Floyd haters, Floyd never had a legitimate fight in his career!
All old, washed up, weight drained, not weight drained (Hatton, LOL I could never figure that one out), over rated, ect.
Look at his fight with Shane Mosley. Shane was The Ring's #3 p4p at the time, which is the highest he's been ranked since 2001. He was on top of the WW heap after completely destroying Margacheato. People were ranting on about how FINALLY Floyd is fighting someone as fast as him, with big power, ect.
Afterwards? Oh Floyd's a coward, he was picking on poor old, geriatric Mosley. Why didn't he fight Mosley back in 2004-2007, they ask. Oh, 2004-2007? You mean the years when people thought Mosley was washed up after getting whipped by Vernon Forrest twice, winning a gift decision in the DLH rematch, then getting dominated by Winky Wright twice and calling for him to retire? That's when he should have fought Mosley? As opposed to the 2010 Mosley who was ranked #3 p4p by the Ring and was on the top of the WW division?
One thing I will say though against Floyd is it's extremely hypocritcal of him to make Canelo fight at a catchweight, when he himself bashed Pac for making Cotto come down to a catch weight.
Very true.. But at the same time, he's in the position to call the shots and dictate the terms cuz after all, he's the main man in this sport and fighters are dieing to face him, not the other way around.
Whoever wants a shot at the king has to comply to his demands.
He still comes off as a hypocrite though. lol
Sure? I don't even know what that means, Floyd is hardly the first guy to do this and I really don't care what he says about anything. Why is all the onus on him over 2 freaking pounds? If Alvarez didn't like it, don't take the fight. No reason it only works one way.
Yes, I'm sure he's much more concerned about the "good of boxing" than the good of his bank accountAlvarez would've taken the fight at 147 for free if he had to right?
I do understand calling Floyd out if he did bash Pacquiao for the Cotto catch weight, but it's the same thing there. Cotto agreed to it, and we have no idea whether it played any role in the fight, it's not an excuse.
You don't think he deserves to be compensated for making the fight? Of course he does. Either way this fight happening is not a 100% given. There is said to be concern from the Alvarez camp about him being able to get down to 152. And word is Mayweather will not go through with the fight unless he makes 152. No matter what. So if this fight doesn't happen the blame clearly falls on Floyd Mayweather
